Wow, did not see this coming at all! Kidd will bring some vet leadership and stability to the Knicks, great addition. Poor Mavs, looked like they were going to bring him back!
Good for the Knicks and for JKidd.
Jeremy Lin possibly making $10 million in a couple of years makes me want to puke in my soup. This pretty much tells him to screw off.
Okay Dallas. Might as well blow this season away and just get CP3 and Dwight next year.
J-Kiddy ?:confusedshrug:
It's very possible this will be a sign and trade with Dallas. Something like Toney Douglas + $3 million cash + 2nd rounder. What that would do is save the mini-MLE for someone else....like a Marcus Camby, OJ Mayo or Randy Foye....
Watch....I think that will happen.
Even if it's not we could use that package to sign and trade for one of those guys.
And I love this move. Kidd is perfect. Felton might be better, but Kidd is better for this role. His leadership will be awesome and he can also play some SG. Tyson must love this move too.
Francis/Marbury/Baron/Bibby and now Kidd
Okay Dallas. Might as well blow this season away and just get CP3 and Dwight next year.
For insurance purposes, if they still have a first round pick for next year then they should just tank the season.

OJ Mayo would be a godsend.
So right now the Knicks' options are to either sign Felton or match Lin. If the Knicks are as stupid as many people say they are they will pick Felton over Lin but if they are actually smart about this, they will pick Lin over Felton.
Lin never signed an offer sheet to Houston though, so hopefully the Knicks don't have to match anything.
RT @daldridgetnt: Source confirms Jason Kidd has turned down 3 yr/$9.5M offer from Mavs to play w/Knicks--who are also likely to match Houston offer for Lin.
Good riddance...

This will be good for New York in short Term. It's not like we are asking big mintues from him. His knowledge of the game will be be Key to developing Jeremy Lin and even JR Smith if he returns.
I'm not saying they are going to beat the Heat but (big ifs) if we stay healthy and have a good training camp they can be very competive in the east. A top 3-4 team in the east perhaps?
Hey guys, there's already some footage from some practice sessions:

Keeping Lin, JR, Novak and Jefferies plus adding Kidd and potentially someone for up to $6 mil... yeah with a full training camp and staying somewhat healthy, I'd say top 3 is realistic.
Indiana might be better with Hibbert, but he might be gone. Boston is essentially the same team with Terry (probably replacing Allen) but older. Chicago is nothing without Rose. Atlanta is a borderline playoff team now. Philly is average. Brooklyn could be nice but nothing more than the 4th seed.
After Miami there's a HUGE drop off. We actually blew out Indiana twice and then the third game blew like a 20 pt lead against them.
Jason Kidd is my favorite player ever. I'm a Nets fan. I hate it from that perspective. But this is a GREAT move for the Knicks. I see no downside.
- He's a great backup PG. Passes the ball and plays defense.
- He mentors Lin and helps him becomes better.
- Carmelo Anthony cannot scoff at this guy. He demands respect and may help tame him.
Sucks for Dallas, but Ramon Sessions is still out there, Louis Williams is out, OJ Mayo is out there.
Kidd to the Knicks is about as good as the they could make.
He will help with flow in the offense and help out Lin.
He's one of the only people who can stand up to Melo's stupidity.
Wish he would have came to Brooklyn, but Tyshawn Taylor should be a good backup for Deron. Congrats to the Knicks on the signing. Next they need Lin.

Very good pickup. Even better if they can get a sign-and-trade done so we can bring in another peice.

It would be in Mike Woodson's best interest to move on and welcome Jason Kidd with open arms.
He won't give the Knicks any production but a 3 here and there could be key. His leadership is key too but that attribute of his is being beaten over and over.

If he welcomes Kidd with open arms, Kidd will just run into him. :oldlol:

Poor Dirky. I hope he demands a trade before the season begins.
so is it almost sure the kincks are going to match houston's offer so lin stays in ny?
so is it almost sure the kincks are going to match houston's offer so lin stays in ny?
Yes, Knicks said that they will match anything and since the Rockets gave them such an easy contract to match it is almost a no brainer at this point that Lin will stay and re-sign with NY.
Sick.....he is going to be a great mentor for Jeremy Lin.
Payton mentored Kidd and now Kidd will mentor Lin.

I can understand him leaving Dallas, but going to the Knicks? Not like it was alot of money thrown at him either. He shouldve went to a contender.

I hope you're not dumb enough to believe this is possible, because it's not.
We'd have to get the Mavs to do a sign-and-trade with us. We'd have to get Camby to come for the vets min (not happening). We'd have to get Mayo to come for the MLE and accept a backup role (the most impossible thing in the whole process here). Mayo is going to get paid, and he won't be a backup.
More possible:
Lin/Kidd
JR Smith/Shumpert
Melo/Novak
Amare/Jeffries
Chandler/Camby
yayyyyyyyyyyyyyy
we can trade our non guaranteed contracts for kid or camby
we can trade our non guaranteed contracts for kid or camby
Yeap. Many people haven't though about that.
gonna play till 43.....:wtf: what is up with all the old asses in the NBA these days.........nash in LA too......:wtf:

you trying to spell c hinks, you rascal ....? :oldlol:
My perfect scenerio is Kidd and Jared Cunningham for amare or amare and Lin and then have the space to sign illyasova or Ryan Anderson + a backup c and a guard
Kidd/Cunningham/(Shumpert)
Jr smith/foye
Carmelo/Novak
Illyasova or Ryan Anderson/ j Jeffries
Chandler/Camby or krstic
