Raymond Felton officially back with Knicks

http://www.insidehoops.com/blog/?p=10539

New York Knicks Executive Vice President, Basketball Operations and General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has re-acquired guard Raymond Felton, via sign-and trade, and forward/center Kurt Thomas from the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for forward Jared Jeffries, via sign-and-trade, center Dan Gadzuric, the draft rights to Kostas Papanikolaou and Giorgos Printezis and a protected future second-round draft pick.

The Draft pick was supposed to have promise, but j Jeffries is a big loss in this trade as well. Portland is laughing their asses off that they s & traded a guy they didn't even want for a player (jj), a prospect (Kosta pap), and a 2nd round pick

Felton will make for a solid backup pg for the next three years and for a good price but since it's not my money I think the trade is Terrible and should have just kept the prospect and Jeffries and brought back lin

He was damn near an allstar in the same system Lin and Douglas were in.

Please, Jeffries will be a Knick more than likely before the end of the season. He's probably going to get waived lol The only team clamoring for Jeffries is the Knicks. Did you hear any teams rumored to want him? No!

Why the Felton hate? He was fairly decent. Reminds me of Jameer Nelson, a definition of a average player at his role. He needs to get in shape but he helped the Knicks more than he had hurt them. I for one, like this. Lins gone, who else did we have available anyways?

Fairly decent? Felton was alot better then Jameer Nelson when he was here with Amare.

In my honest opinion IF Felton comes back in shape and plays the way he did before we traded him then that trade was an absolute steal.

Jared Jeffries and Gadzuric for Felton and Thomas? We traded no talent or potential for some nice talent.

Kurt Thomas > Jeffries so we improved at our back-up PF and got ourselves a PG with potential to play pretty well for us.

felton was fat and lazy and totally unprofessional with the blazers...

franchize stop it because you cant lawd Lin for being a Dantoni product to justify felton's success if that is what your saying. his only above average year. every other time he's been meh.

The Knicks have announced they will not match Houston's offer for PG Jeremy Lin, meaning he will officially be joining the Rockets, according to Al Iannazzone of Newsday.
Lin will join the Rockets on a three-year, $25.1 million deal and should slide right into the starting point guard role for Houston. The Knicks are going to get a backlash from Lin's fan base and the Rockets are going to be the new home of Linsanity, but the Knicks just thought that was too much money for a guy who would be their third-string point guard (Raymond Felton was promised a starting gig, Jason Kidd is No. 2).

Interesting if the bolded part is true.

Amare played much better with Felton than he did with Lin. Who knows, maybe Amare can resurrect with Felton running the point.

I don't see how you can make that comparison. Different coach, different teammates at that time. Lin hardly played with just Amare and without Melo, so there really isn't much to say about that. And Amare rarely puts up good games at the same time Melo does. Plus, Felton just came out of a really shitty season, what makes you so certain he can bounce back? I can understand you trying to be optimistic, yet you're always so pessimistic when teams you're rooting for are at a deficit. :coleman: Anyways...it remains to be seen how things will turn out...

I doubt it. Melo and Amar'e occupy the exact same space on the floor. Mid-post, turn-and-face is their bread and butter. You can't iso them both three feet away from one another and you can't run high pick-and-rolls when the small forward and the center are both in the paint. And none of the three can pass to one another. And lets not forget that Ray Felton actually lacks quite a few basic point guard fundamentals. It took him months to figure out how to run basic pick-and-rolls the last time he was here, and even then they were sloppy as hell on his end. Amar'e actually doesn't get enough credit for some of the crap he had to work with in making that team look good.

The Knicks are more of a mess than most of us would care to admit.

are we forgetting that felton was below average on pnr when he played for us and constantly missed amare on the roll?

and espn already annointed him as pnr master :lol

i remember those games where knicks fans would groan at felton missing the rolling amare and would cheer hard that one time each game where he actually got it to him

Re: Raymond Felton officially back with Knicks

Look guys,I never really liked Felton. I just don't think there's much of a difference between him and Lin.
Felton missed Amare on pick & rolls but Lin did that too.

Yeah,I'm trying to be positive but I really think that people are underrating Felton and overrating Lin.
Raymond was out of shape last season and Portland was a mess. If he can get back to his 2010-11 level of play which I think he's able to he will be a good pickup.
