2012-2013 ISH Power Rankings

Rank the teams you think are the best heading into the season from first to last. The criteria is last year's success, off-season acquisitions, player progression or regression, chemistry and overall talent.

I think I'll stop at 75 votes or after a 48 hour period, which ever comes first.

#1: Miami Heat, Why?

- Defending champions
- A lot of talent
- Improved over the summer with the acquisition of Ray Allen
- Hopefully a healthy Wade and Bosh
- LeBron James
- Entering their 3rd season, developed chemistry and role players understanding their role.
- Very good defensive team

I am also thinking of creating a 2012-2013 Prediction Thread, where we'll vote for individual awards, playoff teams/seeding, and eventual champions. But we'll do it in phases, we got 2 months to kill (or a month until pre-season starts). Should be a fun project.

Anyways, lets get this rolling.

75 votes? Change that to 15.

I've been waiting for someone to do this. My vote is Miami for #1

Miami is at the top until proven otherwise for the reasons you gave mainly. It's rare that you SHOULDN'T have the defending champ at the top of the power ranking before the next season.

I think a vote with reason should be given. Alot of times trolls just post random crap for no reason.

My pick is Miami. Championship team that got better in the off-season with the addition of Ray Allen. Their defense was already great, but now with a healthy Wade and Bosh not going down in the playoffs, they're nearly unstoppable.

1. Miami, a reason isn't really necessary, unless there's some dramatic change to a championship team, like Dallas going into last season after they dismantled their championship core. The champion is always the team to beat until proven otherwise unfit of that title.

How can anyone not pick Miami? The defending champs and they just got better...

Lakers are looking scary though, and never count out Thunder. But still, Miami at the #1 spot for sure.

miami

but i dont buy into this idea that, once bron/miami got over the hump, it will be easier to win more titles from here on out. some pressure is relieved sure, but the lakers and the thunder will be a very tough challenge for them, fortunately for them though, the east looks pretty weak

Lakers are the best team in the NBA.

Miami.

Defending champs who have the best player in basketball, the second best SG, and a top 10 PF. Added the best 3pt shooter of all time & the low risk Rashard Lewis. Cole comes back and may get better. Only loss of the roster is Turiaf, Howard, and Curry? They got better.
