Re: Bob Sanders
One of the most entertaining defensive players of the last 20 years when he was on the field. He's one of those guys that we will mention among the toughest safeties of his era and our kids will be like, "who?"
Then, we will show them this... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5trR6qxOrd4 |

Re: Bob Sanders
I think it was the year the Colts won the Super Bowl. Sanders was out most of the season and people were saying that Colts defense was an all-time bad. I think they were close to a record of terrible defense (rush yards allowed or something?).
Then he came back in the playoffs and it was a light and day difference. Such an impact player. He had that forced fumble and int in the Super Bowl. |

His two full seasons though he was first team All-Pro, and he completely transformed the Colts defense in '06 during the playoffs. He might have kept getting hurt, but when he was healthy he was right there with Reed and Polamalu. |

Yeah, they were that season. You have to go back into the '80s before you see a team who gave up more rushing yards (and teams just ran the ball more then), but then no team since they switched to a 16 game schedule (I didn't feel like going back far than that) has given up as many yards per carry (5.3). And then in the playoffs they were giving up 83 yards per game (in contrast to 173 yards per game they were giving up in the regular season). |
Re: Bob Sanders
Shame.... it's not surprising though considering his size and he would throw his body around like a cannonball.
