Nudity/Sexual Content In Video Games

Why is it that sexual content in video games is more reviled than murder or other crimes? I've always thought it was funny how it's perfectly acceptable to ruthlessly murder people in all kinds of ways in video games but as soon as there is a nip slip or some kind of intercourse shown it's automatically too mature. (see GTA San Andreas)

Why is it that graphic murder is trivialized while explicit sex (or even softcore) is taboo in video games?

I'm assuming it's because kids have more accessibility with violent games or parents let kids play violent video games.
Cartoon violence in the media may have a factor as well.

Dunno why nudity is considered an issue, but not violence.

I've never really been able to figure this one out, not just in video games, but in nearly every form of media. The most gruesome violence imaginable can draw an R rating (scalping, decapitation, using someone's intestines as rope), but frontal nudity is beyond that. As if we are saying, "Listen son, it's one thing to watch a man get his head cut off, but it's another thing altogether to possibly catch a glimpse of a human female's bajingo."

This, but this is mainly an American thing. Overseas in England, they're much more apt to show sex on TV, as opposed to violence. Not to say it's all sex on tv, but they'd rather have kids see the naked body than to see someone die. Which I think is the right thing to do.

I've heard this as well. I've always thought it was interesting how it was sort of an inverse overseas when it comes to this as opposed to how stringent we are with nudity or sexual content here in America.

Younger children don't understand/have not been exposed to sexual things. I knew what murder was before I knew what sex was.

Not saying this is right, just explaining why things are the way they are.

It's because we're a far more violent country than our european friends. Our gun laws are far more relaxed(not directly related to violence just stating it), our murder rate is higher, violent crimes like man slaughter are higher etc etc.

Although ironically enough, I think so is our teen pregnancy rate per capita.:lol

It's just funny how god forbid you see tits, but you can go out and kill an animal at 12-14 depending on the state. :facepalm

It's all a government conspiracy. They trying to get us to kill each other instead of loving hot women.
