Who does stuff like this?????? :facepalm :facepalm :facepalm
This injury doesn't hurt the team at all, we don't need him.

I wonder who's backup then. Was Jodie Meeks signed to be a point guard or a shooter? I like Duhon, but his shooting percentage, believe it or not, is significantly lower than Blake's.

We'll be fine. We're a really guard heavy team. This is a good opportunity for Duhon, Morris, and maybe even Goudelock to show what they've got.

I couldn't believe this shit. Seriously.

#1. Why the f.uck are you even walking around somewhere where you'd be exposed to that.

#2. How do you not see it and walk around it? Seriously. This doesn't happen to anyone else in the world. Only a very rare NBA player.

It had to be Steve Blake.

Well, he sucks anyway. Doing us a favor maybe.

Steve Blake isn't going to make or break this season. It's an accident, he'll get better, and none of us will even remember this. Since it's Blake I'm not overly concerned.

As he headed toward his truck barefoot in a Manhattan Beach parking lot, Lakers guard Steve Blake turned his head.

Somebody called his name and Blake looked up. At that instant, Blake stepped on a spike strip that left a puncture in his left foot, an incident he described as an "unfortunate situation."

"When you step on something like that, it's pretty painful," Blake said. "All the blood made me realize something was wrong. It's unfortunate. You move past it and go from there."

Blake arrived at media day Monday at the team's practice facility in El Segundo in full uniform -- and wearing shoes. He didn't show any limitation when he walked to the various photo shoots and interview sessions. Blake said doctors have cleared him for spot shooting drills.

Nonetheless, Blake said that "cutting, anything that causes friction will open the wound up." Hence, Blake will be limited for at least three weeks.

That will open up the backup shooting guard spot to Chris Duhon and Darius Morris. It could inhibit any progress Blake hoped to make after showing more consistency shooting in last season's playoffs. But Blake remained optimistic the return won't be difficult because he he learned Eddie Jordan's Princeton offense when he played with the Washington Wizards from 2004 to 2006.

"The pain is not too bad right now," Blake said. "It's still a little sensitive on my heel. But I'm healing well and healing fast. I'm on track to get back."

This still doesn't explain why he was barefoot in a parking lot.......talk about low IQ, you are an NBA player and just before the season starts you are walking around barefoot at night, he could have stepped on broken glass....or anything, just not smart at all. It's not like he couldn't afford sandals on an overpaid $4 million per year.
