Re: Felix Baumgartner Space Jump
Washington Post:
Austrian daredevil Felix Baumgartner fell to Earth from 24 miles up Sunday, enrapturing millions of people following a live feed of his stunt as he became the first human being to travel faster than the speed of sound without the assistance of a craft.
During a four-minute, 20-second free fall, he reached a speed of Mach 1.24 or 833.9 miles per hour, according to an official with the National Aeronautic Association.
quick question for you aeronautical experts..since he hit supersonic speeds, shouldn't he have created a sonic boom?
It has to deal with air pressure. He was able to go that fast due to no air pressure/resistance and therefore no sonic boom. Obviously he slowed down to terminal velocity as he came closer to the earth and wasn't going fast enough to create a sonic boom. Still a total baller  :applause:   :pimp:

^ The funny thing is.. there are people in this world who will believe this.
Re: Felix Baumgartner Space Jump
Could be, but I doubt he could have known how fast he was going with all the commotion around him. I think he stated that his visor was fogging up and that's why he pulled the shoot early.
I was panicking though when he was spinning around like a helicopter.
I think he really did take all the time he could, but the thing is he (and his equipment) weighed more than Kittinger, so his free fall took less than Kittinger's even if he jumped from a higher point.
