So there had actually been fewer African-Americans in the league recently?

Interesting to see the number was 82% in 1994-95.

Seems like the league has become more diverse recently than it was in the 90's when it was predominantly African-American. Edit: Still is, but there are more Latinos and Asians in the league now.

I have to assume, when they mean "Eighty-two percent of players were players of color [during 2011-2012]," they're including other non-white international players and biracial players.

Is there a complete yearly statistical breakdown of the NBA by race and ethnicity and nationality available for the 1980s and earlier? It would be interesting to see the numbers throughout the years.

Now that i look at the breakdown, I think they're including biracial in a separate category as Other, 1% for 2011-2012.

Their breakdown for 2011-2012 is:

78% African-American
18% White.
3% Latino
<1% Asian
<1% Other


Although i bet a lot, if not most, biracial players identify as African-American.

I'm a little confused as to how they categorize certain people. For instance, are Spanish players considered White or Latino.

Ayon and Najera and Barbosa would be Latino players, but where would non-latino black international players be.

I'm starting to think that they put biracial and black non-latino international players in the same category as African-Americans.

Their doesn't seem to be any distinction made during the 1990's, it was almost all either African-American or White.

1994-95 is literally two categories, African American 82%, white 18%.

Which means that players like Manute Bol were placed in the African American category.

Who "came up with People of color"? That is the most unintelligent shit I've ever heard. They might as well say unwhite. It's actually lumping all ethnic groups and races that are not white into one and saying they are all a common group.
