Kendrick Lamar's verse about Arron Afflalo
they went to school together (Centennial High) and he talked about his jealousy
I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo
I used to be jealous of Arron Afflalo
He was the one to follow
He was the only leader foreseeing brighter tomorrows
He would live in the gym
We was living in sorrow
Total envy of him
He made a dream become a reality
Actually making it possible to swim
His way out of Compton with further more to accomplish
Graduate with honors, a sponsor of basketball scholars
It's 2004 and I'm watching him score 30
Remember vividly how them victory points had hurt me
Cause every basket was a reaction or a reminder
That we was just moving backwards
The bungalow where you find us
The art of us ditching classes heading nowhere fast
Stick my head inside the study hall, he focused on math
Determination ambition, plus dedication and wisdom
Qualities he was given was the shit we didn't have
Dug inside of his book bag and Coach Palmer asked for his finals
He had his back like a spinal meanwhile
We singing the same old song spinning the vinyl
11 graders gone wrong
He focused on the NBA we focused on some Patron
Now watch that black boy fly
I don't have audio so I can't verify for certain, but I think this is a link to the verse: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=VfswiamcoS4#!
Re: Kendrick Lamar's verse about Arron Afflalo
"I wasn't jealous cuz of the talents they got
I was terrified they'll be the last black boys to fly...
Out of Compton"
He explains his "jealousy" in his closing lines.

Re: Kendrick Lamar's verse about Arron Afflalo
Great verse. People don't seem to understand that NBA players were also great students since they have to get into D1 college

there is a huge difference between being a great student and getting the minimum requirements to go to school on an athletic scholarship

You still have to be on your school grind. I remember a kid who averaged 30/15/5 as a senior and he's playing community college basketball right now. Those minimum requirements are still very great grades
Re: Kendrick Lamar's verse about Arron Afflalo
Shyne went on a Twitter rant, calling Kendrick Lamar's album "trash." While he does not really elaborate on his designation of the LP as "trash," he compares it to Game's The Documentary and 50 Cent's Get Rich Or Die Tryin', saying those are classics.
"Yoooo! Kendrick Lamar is talented with a lot of potential but his album is traaaaash!," Shyne tweeted yesterday.
"The game Documentary even 50 get rich or die trying lived up to the hype and were classics. Good kid is trash!"
"All kendric lamar d#%^ riders & nut huggers! His album was trash! Good kid! Terrible album!"
Stop trying to hate on whatever is popular.
The truth of the matter is its one of the most cohesive rap albums ever. With all the producing talent he had come in on the album, and still make the CD sound as if its all one big transition is quite amazing. Haven't seen that from a rap album in a while, or ever to this extent.
Album is a classic.
