Ken Berger @KBergCBS now
Board unanimously voted to negotiate with deputy commissioner Adam Silver to succeed Stern, Taylor says.
No surprise
Why did he pick that day? That's the day before the Super Bowl in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
he officially became nba commissioner on feb 1st 1984. so he picked 30 years exactly.
31st of January, 2014...
"It has been announced that David Stern will not be stepping down as commissioner and will continue for another 5 years....for basketball reasons"

I don't know I've never noticed this before, but Adam Silver is a really weird looking dude. His head is really long and narrow and he's got some huge ears.

30th anniversary of the day he took over. Longest tenured commissioner of any of the major sports leagues

:oldlol: Yeah, he really doesn't look the part of a major professional sport commisioner at all.
Say what you want about Stern and his mistakes, but he has been the best commissioner currently in the four major sports. I don't think it's been that close either.
Another guy who owes his future HOF spot to MJ.

People that knock on Stern haven't watched the league long enough to know what's he's accomplished in his time. He's dragged the game from what it was in the 70's to being one of the premier leagues in the world. People don't remember or know about watching playoff games on tape delay after the 11 pm news. Half filled arenas for even the top teams during regular season. Lack of media coverage. On an on if you look hard enough there's not a single area of the league that hasn't improved tenfold during Sterns time as commish
Sing it, sing Halleluja.
Hey you got to give the man props though. Just look at what the NBA where it's at now.
Finally
Bird as the new commish, back to 80's rules.
I wonder how much money that dude made while being a commish
