Heat get rings, then beat Boston
LeBRON JAMES held his index finger aloft, then turned and took a walk nine years in the making.
A few moments later, a championship ring - finally - was his. James and the Miami Heat celebrated their NBA title once again Tuesday night, with the ring-and-banner ceremony replete with an indoor fireworks show that immediately preceded their season opener, in which they beat the visiting Boston Celtics, 120-107. James had 26 points and 10 rebounds, and Dwyane Wade scored a game-high 29 points for the Heat. Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 23. Ray Allen, who left Boston for Miami as a free agent, scored 19 points in 31 minutes. Miami's first ring night was an unmitigated disaster - a 108-66 loss to the Chicago Bulls after the 2006 championship jewelry was issued. -- Philadelphia Inquirer |

Heat are the team to beat. Don't think anyone can dispute that

Re: Heat get rings, then beat Boston
I was a little worried about the game. the occasion of collecting their rings, the Allen issue and the fact that Boston would be out to set a tone and show they're a true force.
What actually transpired were some fantastic basketball from the big 3 and potential 6th man of the year Ray Allen. Boston's defence just couldn't deal with the multiple threats in the end. I think if anyone thought that Lebron and co would slow now they have the ring this game will show that they mean business! |
