phil jackson is overrated as a coach. but as a motivator hes the best.

lets be honest. he doesnt do a whole lot on the sidelines. he rarely calls time outs. he runs an offensive system that is self dictated by the players and apposing defense. its a reactionary offense. meaning theres nothing the coach does except say "run the offense tex winter created"

this never would have worked with average players. he never would have won anything without legendary guys like kobe or jordan etc..

what phil is good at is bringing big egos together out of respect. and motivating those who don't always have a will to win out of respect.

being a coach is more than just x's and o's. its about getting the players to believe in a system.

doc rivers is a classic example of this. hes a leader. mike brown isnt. he lost the team long before he was fired.

IMO the greatest coach's of all time are the ones that make bad players into solid contributes. and average teams into playoff teams. or a collection of guys who are underdogs taking out much tougher opponents.

if phil gets hired the coach will be the same guy who ran the team for the past decade.

kobe bryant

only difference is with phil... others will finally show some effort and toughness.

kobe = coach

phil = inspiration

I was reading through all of that, waiting for you to somehow relate it to Kobe. I was not disappointed.

If it was that easy, shrinks would be best coaches.

How do you take a system with you whereever you go, properly implement it in a way that enables team success in comparison to other coaches who try and implement it and fail, win 11 championships in 20 years you were coaching, and receive the stigma that you are overrated as a coach?

Only misguided ignoramuses could extract from winning the bedrock of losing. Yes, he had Jordan/Pippen and Shaq/Kobe. Guess what? What were any of those players winning before Phil stepped in? And guess what? Riley had Magic/Kareem, Wade/Shaq; Red had Russel + several HoFers; Pop had Duncan; ect, ect. Great coaches are great because they are able to manage great talent and maximize their effectiveness.

And guess what? THAT'S THE POINT OF COACHING.

phil is a psychological genius that practices zen techniques, meditation and mind control

he basically is a shrink

but at the same time he knows allot about basketball

when it comes to loaded teams. you need a guy like phil who can handle the needs of the many egos on the team

a guy like mike brown cant manage them all. and then he loses faith among those who think hes ignoring them

lol@ digging up the 1 season in kobes 17 year career that he spent injured for most of it

thats like saying jordan wasnt motivated in 85-86 because he couldnt play

kobe still managed 27ppg,6reb,6ast in the games he was able to play.
