Why doesn't McGee start?
 

Nuggets fans have to explain this one to me. There's no debate that he is better in every facet to Koufos. Better fundamentals and extremely athletic and long reach. Plays well in his limited minutes too. What gives?

A better question is why doesn't get more minutes.. I understand the whole Miller/McGee combo, but at least put him in as much as you're putting Miller in but preferably more.

George Karl said Kosta had the best camp of any center on his roster. Thus he earned the starting nod. How would it look if Karl said that, and still started McGee to begin the season.

Mcgee also has Asthma.. the training staff keeps a close eye on him. From my understanding, it's pretty severe.

That's like the biggest reason why Koufos is starting instead of McGee. McGee survives almost purely on athleticism, that's it. I don't see McGee ever being a consistent 30+ mpg player. He will definitely have good, maybe even great stretches, but his low IQ, low BBIQ and lack of fundamentals are what are going to ultimately hold him back from ever reaching his potential.
Don't get me wrong, he's gonna spend a lot of years in the NBA based on his size alone, but don't get too high on this guy ever panning out anywhere near his potential.
