Should Stoudemire come off bench when he returns?

Despite his expected return from a knee issue more than a month away, forward Amar'e Stoudemire might be squeezed out of the Knicks starting lineup once he hits the court. Coach Mike Woodson sidestepped a question Tuesday about Stoudemire taking back his spot at power forward, a position Carmelo Anthony has thrived in as the team has raced out to a 7-1 start. "Iím going to address that when we get to that point," Woodson told the New York Post. "Right now Iím just taking it a day at a time and work the guys we have in uniform."

he'll play limited minutes off the bench his first few games to ease him back into shape and into the rotation. where it goes from there is up in the air, but I prefer he comes off the bench

If the team is 5 losses or less when Amare returns, no way Woodson even thinks about it.

Our bench scoring is suspect at times, Amare would be a huge help with that.

Woodson said he told players to check their ego's at the door, we'll see if that was true for Amare.

I think a guy like Amar'e should start and finish games (if healthy).
It's up to Woodson to try and make his game fit with the current ones.
At worst, coach should adjust the rotations in order to make him support the second unit as much as possible. But no way he doesn't start or finish, imo.

I agree. Just because he starts, it doesnt mean he has to be on the court with the starters all the time. Start him then early on, put your best lineup out there. If he isnt part of that, sub him out n put him in with the lineup that he thrives best in. Lets not forget in sll of this... Amare Stoudemire is extremely talented. Once again, it isnt completely impossible that he could help our team tremendously.

The Knicks wont go far in the playoffs without Stat so whether he comes off the bench or starts its not that big of a deal. For those that dont want him to start he isnt a 40 minute player so no matter what his role is he will play at most 25-30 minutes.

stat shud start cus it creates mismatches off the bat, he isnt gonna be playing big minutes with the roster we have but woodson has shown in the 2 losses that he wants to shorten the rotation

I think the last 2 games proves we need to come back down to earth. We need Stat. Cut the bullshit. He's our best big man.

I hope so. I can't imagine how Woodson thinks putting Novak in will cure our defensive lapses.

Thats the most curious move though. I cant even understand that. When the Knicks need stops he's on the floor. Brewer or someone else has to be out there.

Stat is only a mismatch with Centers but teams play so small these days he doesnt have any advantage even when healthy. But the Knicks need another threat for sure.
