Illogical to peg the Lakers as anything right now. So why overreact to every game?

Fact - It was a new team with two huge peices unfamiliar with one another

Fact - Coach implementing new offense

Fact - Said huge peice gets injured for an extended period of time. The other huge peice just came off back surgery.

Fact - A new coach gets hired, implements new system.

:facepalm @ everyone just putting them on blast 24/7.

We won't know what this Laker team will be until a month before the playoffs. The Miami Heat were 10-8 when they first joined up and they were all healthy.

It's about chemistry. They obviously have the individiual talent, nobody should question that. Chemistry and playing well with one another takes time. It just doesn't happen overnight or in 18 games. It's a gradual process.

Try explaining that to 14 year old teenagers with brackets who just enjoy watching the Lakers lose...

I disagree that they have the individual talent. Agree with the rest.

- miami was a young team

- the players on miami wanted to be there. it was their plan they were determined to make it work.

- dwight howard never wanted to be in la and is still keeping his options open. blames his teammates.

The posters who clown on the Lakers are Heat fans. And the average age for Heat fans is probably 15-16. Makes sense. :confusedshrug:

If nothing changes in the next month, going by this pace, LA will be 16-20 going into January...at that point the chances will be very real that they don't make the playoffs.

That is very unlikely, but hey, it's possible...certainly with their health problems.

Two top 10 players in Kobe & Dwight.

Nash was an elite point guard just 7 months ago.

Pau is at the very least a top 50 player in the NBA.

Jamison is a quality 6th man off the bench.

Talent is there. No doubt.

because of the hype they got. and because its the Lakers, the most overhyped organization in sports. They get the most media coverage and therefore will get the most bashing when they fail. Its just the way it is.

Hey the Lakers are a great organization, a huge market, they made a lot of ambitious moves and a lot of people wish they could say the same about their team.

The drawback is that when they disappoint the media kills them and everyone makes fun of them. Overall seems like a good deal for you guys.

cant fairly assess them until nash comes back, though, the lakers inability to close out teams late in games should cause be cause for concern.

disagree. Overall talent that fits into an offensive and defensive philosophy isn't there. They can be good but not good enough to win a title. Guys don't fit and it was predictable to anyone that watched these guys last year.

Nash is a really good point guard when the team is made for him and he has 100 percent freedom. Otherwise he isn't a top 10 point guard in the league. I'd rather have Lowry, Holiday as well as many others over Nash.

pau is a great player. But he isn't a great power forward on a team of aging defenders. He needs guys around him to make up for his lack of quickness. Same with Kobe and Nash. Bottom line is you have 4 very old slow defenders starting and a horrible defensive sixth man. This team will nit be able to stop top teams. They will not run LeBron or Westbrook off the court either. You just can win with a team full of horrible defenders and guys that are forced to play out of character on offense. It won't work as currently constructed but they do have trade pieces.

Re: Illogical to peg the Lakers as anything right now. So why overreact to every game?

One thing I observe with this lakers team is... they have no help defense communication. Part of that is on your defensive leader, other part is the players and coach. Dwight's help D has been good hes just not vocal like Chandler or KG to get his guys in the right spot.

Another thing is, Shaq went through same thing as Howard, the difference was that Laker team took advantage of a team getting in the penalty. Kobe shoots more jumpers than drives to the basket now. Kobe back then used to feast during hack a shaq because he would attack and either get easy buckets or foul shots 5-7 times during that span.

Re: Illogical to peg the Lakers as anything right now. So why overreact to every game?

Agreed. I cheer at every loss, but even I know they're going to be going on 4, 5, 6-game win streaks on a regular basis in the second half of the season, and that come Conference Finals time, they'll be just as fearsome as OKC and Miami.

And does anyone really believe that if Memphis and LA meet up in the playoffs, Memphis is the favorite? Come on.

This is a D'Antoni team where none of the players know each other and their only decent point guard is hurt. And every loss, even though there have been plenty of them, still feels like a surprise. We all know this is a monster in the making. Let's not delude ourselves.

Dwight will be near 20ppg, and Kobe closer to 25, and the Lakers will have 50 wins, by season's end. Watch.
