Talking Points

What's the buzz from the world of sports? Here are some items that will have people talking:

All hail Pacific Northwest power! An impressive array of college athletes from this region have been making their marks on national stages.

Vancouver's Jonathan Moore, an Oklahoma State redshirt freshman, became the NCAA Division I men's golf champion Saturday.

Fresh off its second Pac-10 title in a row, the Oregon State baseball team is fighting for another trip to the College World Series. The Beavers are locally grown, with 33 of the 42 players on the roster from Oregon (25) and Washington (eight, including Skyview graduate Scott Santschi).

The Women's College World Series is further proof of Northwest omnipotence. Oregon State was one of the eight softball teams to make it to Oklahoma City, and former Heritage star Jordan Praytor also was there, with Alabama.

Overheard on a Vancouver sidewalk Saturday: The Adam Morrison-vs.-Brandon Roy debate, in relation to the Trail Blazers' No. 4 pick in the June 28 NBA Draft.

It may be true that there are no clear-cut superstars in this year's draft, but the possibility of one of the two Northwest products in a Blazers' jersey next winter has created a buzz. A Portland radio station has launched a "Draft the 'Stache" campaign in favor of sweet-shooting Morrison, the former Gonzaga star. And there are plenty of Portland fans clamoring for the all-around brilliance of ex-Washington standout Roy as well. Either player would inject some much-needed excitement into the blundering Blazers.

Portland

Billy Knight has his sights on Brandon Roy.

If Portland takes him, then I don't know who the Hawks draft.

Nate is pushing hard to get Roy in Portland.

He sees a lot of himself in Roy.

.

roy would fit in well but morrison would give them a great shooter to go along with zach randolph. the only problem is randolph is not a passer (hes more of a chucker), so sucking in double teams and passing out to open shooters is out of the question.

anybody who drafts morrison in the lottery will live to regret it, terrible draft or not. late first rounder in any draft.

Adam Morrison is underrated. He might be the best player in this whole draft.
