Saying it out loud was foolish but homophobia is very much alive in sports. There's never been an openly gay player in the NBA, MLB, NFL, or NHL. There's a reason for that, and it's not that no gay man has ever been a good athlete.

I don't think it's going to have any affect but it does seem like bad timing, can't these guys wait one week?

As for Crabtree he's a straight up idiot. He basically called Alex Smith shit the other day and blaming his past QB's for his lack of success in the past despite him constantly doing the following: Holding out of a contract rookie year, getting hurt, being overweight, bad hands, diva syndrome, lack of separation, etc.

There has been and likely are plenty of them. People have this warped misconception that all gay people fit the limp wristed, excessive feminine qualities stereotype and it's so hilariously inaccurate.

have you ever been in a high school locker room?...it's not a place any gay person would want to be...at all

there is one NFL player that came out after retirement and he said in order o get by he had to say "f@g" on a regular basis and he also said he was suicidal for the majority of his NFL career...he also said that he thought his own teammates would have injured him in practice had they known he was gay...


I find it extremely difficult to believe that it is common for gays to make it all the way through high school and college football without quitting over the extreme bigotry that goes on...

I'm sure there are gays all over the NFL, or at least bi. It's statistically improbable that they are not. They just keep it to themselves. You think young men playing football and getting tons of adulation, the chance at a scholarship, the chance at the NFL quit because of some secret shame? Rather than just hide it and continue on?

Moss's comments were so stupid. One - he never engages the media and all of a sudden he's going to talk and say this? And two, he said exactly in his comments why he is not the GOAT, he basically dismissed all the times he underachieved. He doesn't get it, having his talent and not maximizing it is exactly why he is NOT the best ever.

CC made an interesting comment about Moss being misunderstood, CC said he's understood just fine, the reporters see of Moss 100% what he wants them to see. It's hard to claim you are misunderstood when you act a certain way on purpose to drive reporters away.

I think the odds of them quitting in high school and college because of the huge amounts of bigotry are very high, yes...they wouldn't be having fun, that's for sure

Just read what the gay Vikes player had to say about it, he was suicidal, he said it was complete hell.


obviously the % of gay people in the NFL would be much lower than the % in the real world...same with the army, or anywhere else where the majority involved don't welcome gays...

In today's era I don't think gay players woud be crucifyed compared to 20-30years ago. Even NFL players are becoming a bit more progressive, just look at all the modeling ads and other fashion advertising players do nowadays. I think it all depends on the team though. A gay player on the raiders would most likely get hazed but on the Patriots(or any veteran team) most players would turn a blind eye.

Depends if teams have ghetto thugs like Chris Culliver.
