Josh Smith?
 

Seems like he's on the block. Should we be interested?

DeRozan/Gay/Smith would be easily the most athletic team in the East.

Unless ownership allows the Raptors to go deep into luxury takx (yeah, right) then it's not happening. The Raptors would have too much money committed to a few players. Unless you're just renting Smith for the rest of this year which would be stupid.

Obviously it would have to hinge on whether or not he signs an extension with us. Do you think he would command max money?

Yep. He'll ask for it and some team will probably give it to him. So if the Raptors have to give an extension to him, then eventually Lowry to go along with Gay and Derozan? I don't see it as feasible unless they're going into the luxury tax or a 10-man roster.

I thought about this before too, but the max money thing is what throws that off. I very much doubt he'd sign an extension with us. And even if he would we also have to re-sign Lowry (or another PG if they choose not to) and yeah we'd be in seriously luxury tax territory more than we already are.

If MLSE is as crazy as they seem like they are with building wins (i.e.. like the Blue Jays and maybe with the Leafs and Loungo) then they might as well go all in and overpay to get Josh Smith.
