Fact: An Atheists Ultimate Desire is to be like God!

Because in order for you to know there is no God you would have to be everywhere in the known universe simultaneously to verify God wasn't existent anywhere (omnipresence), then you"d need all knowledge to know if God did not exist in any of the 6 curled dimensions we cannot see with the naked eye. (Omniscience)

Or here is a practical example without Quantum Physics...

In order for me to declare there is no gold in China I'd physically have to be everywhere simultaneously in China to be able to verify there was no gold anywhere in China. However, to be able to say that gold exists in China I just need to be in one place at one time and see one piece of gold.

Declaring the negative position takes absurdly more faith (blind) than declaring the affirmative. Even Bertrand Russell figured this out and abruptly changed his stance to Agnostic.

An atheist's desire is to rationalize things that science still can't explain with logic and baseless assumptions.

ANY sensible person's desire is to be like god, or the son of god, or whatever idea works for the unique person that you are.

getting lost in semantics is a trap that you and many other people have fallen in to. the usual reason is because the person's sense of security can only tolerate so much expansion of the mind. for you, there must be an "us" and "them," "man" and "god," "belief" and "non-belief," "successful people" and "non-successful people."

any person who really wants to grow in these areas must work hard and persistently across the years of their life. a key part of the process includes being able to glimpse one's blind spots, and then understand them, and then apply the antidotes and reprogram one's self. it's a process, and a hard one at that, and there are not enough teachers to go around.

but hopefully you will grow past this phase, bladers. and certainly, we ALL have a next phase that life challenges us with. it's the never-ending journey for us brilliant, ferocious animals cursed with self-consciousness.... :hammerhead:

So you're saying that right now you have more faith in your disbelief of Vishnu than you have in your belief of Jesus?

Re: Fact: An Atheists Ultimate Desire is to be like God!

As an atheist myself, this is not at all how I look at things. I simply don't believe a god is plausible, and wouldn't believe in something that there's no evidence exists. Simply put, out of all the things we have to worry about in life, it's not worth my time to worry about if there is or isn't a god.

I also won't waste my time trying to tell people what they should believe. Despite the fact that I believe religion has done far more harm than good, it has been a positive in many people's lives, and it's not my place to force my beliefs on anyone. And my beliefs are just that, nothing I can prove. Just like those who do believe in a god.

To me, it just doesn't make sense why so many people think it's necessary for others to believe what they believe. Whether someone's an atheist or a religious person. All of the problems that have revolved around something that nobody can prove or disapprove the existence of is completely illogical. Believe what you want, and don't try to force your beliefs on others. I don't get why that's so difficult.

I don't go around proclaiming "Vishnu does not exist" as an indisputable fact.

There is the difference!
