Alan Anderson

Thoughts on Alan Anderson's play this season?

Should we re-sign him for next season?

He has been playing well lately but he is definitely a chucker going on the wrong side of 30. He is also taking lots of time away from Terrence Ross, hindering his development.

Should we have capitalized on trading him prior to the deadline?

I could imagine him being retained, just because Casey seems to love him. Casey is probably also the reason he's not being traded as well. He's a good enough shooter (spot up) and defender to stay in the league, but when he tries to do too much he becomes detrimental to the team.

Some games he'll get up the most or second most shots on the team IMO thats too much. I feel he can cut that in half and be much more effective.

I don't want him resigned because I'd like to see Ross get major minutes, but the Raps are in win now mode :facepalm so I believe he'll be re-signed.

I do like Alan Anderson. What i'm scared about is BC (if they keep BC which I also somehow expect them to) giving him like a 3 year 15-16 mill deal or something like that. If we got him for something like 3 year 8-9 mill I guess I wouldn't be too mad. But he's not the kind of player you reach for. He's a guy who if he's after getting the biggest money contract possible (which given his age and brief NBA history he probably will be) you let him walk. If he says i'll stay in TO because I like it here and i'll take a reasonable contract then sure why not. My guess is he walks though.

Like Bokes said, if you can get him at "your" price you sign him. I think he's shown he can be a capable rotation guy.

He's not the type of player you over extend yourself to sign, though.

if we can sign him to an affordable contract, absolutely we keep him. He hasn't always been knocking shots down this season, but he always plays great defence.

If his price is too high, we should let him walk. Unfortunately, BC didn't put a team option in his contract, so we'd at least be able to dangle him in the offseason.

True. He was a cheap enough pickup that it wouldn't have hurt much at all to give him a 2nd year team option on his contract for maybe a little over a mill. But anyways, no skin off our back if he walks. He's kind of like our 2012-13 James Johnson. Definitely a good guy to have on your bench for the right price but not someone you chase if he wants to leave or has high money demands.
