Pistons guard Brandon Knight hurts ankle
Pistons guard Brandon Knight has been diagnosed with a sprained left ankle after X-rays taken following Detroit's 103-90 loss to the Jazz on Monday night came back negative, the team announced. However, Yahoo! Sports is reporting that sources close to the team said Knight's injury is being considered "significant". Knight was forced to leave in the opening minutes of the first quarter against the Jazz after rolling his ankle while driving to the basket. He was fouled on the play, but since he was unable to take his free throws, he was ruled ineligible to return. "The only thing I know is that it is not broke," coach Brian Hill said. "We will have to get more diagnosis than that, but it appears to be a very severe sprain right now."
Analysis: The team has yet to confirm the Yahoo! Sports report, but that fact that Knight had to be carried off the court by two of his teammates did raise a few red flags. He will be re-evaluated sometime Tuesday, so owners should continue to check back for the latest details regarding his status. The rookie has finally appeared to settle into the shooting guard position as he was averaging 15.6 points over his previous five contests. Knight can be considered a viable start in most formats when healthy.
