Andre Drummond To Start Tonight

Detroit Pistons center Andre Drummond will start against the Toronto Raptors after missing more than a month of action due to a stress fracture of the fifth lumbar vertebra. The Pistons were mathematically eliminated from the Eastern Conference playoff race on Thursday night, but the news regarding Drummond's return is still exciting.

The 19-year-old rookie dazzled NBA enthusiasts with his athleticism and defensive effort in the first half of the season, but many wondered why head coach Lawrence Frank refused to pair Drummond with Greg Monroe in lineups more often. Frank told Keith Langlois of on Friday that he plans to do exactly that over the remainder of the year:

Apparently he was told just before the injury he was going to be in the starting lineup. They want to maximize his time with Monroe on the court for the end of the season.

Re: Andre Drummond To Start Tonight
Well, he's looked pretty good coming back from the injury (besides those free throws he air balled, lol). One thing I was thinking is the past few years the Pistons have went on a little winning streak at the end of the season to go from a top 5 pick to a top 10 pick. With all the bad teams in basketball being so close to each other if we do that again it will really hurt our draft status. I can't help but get the feeling the Pistons are going to get a few wins here at the end and we won't get a guy who can really make a difference. I do love seeing Monroe and Drummond on the court together though.
