man, I hope he slips all the way to the lakers pick.

Phil Jackson's team needs a lot more than another Steve Kerr.

yup, he's a good shooter, but we also need better team defense and i don't think he'll be a difference maker on that end of the floor.

I doubt he slips to 26, more like 16-20....If he is still on board around then, the Lakers need to move up 5 spots, without giving up too much, and they will have themselves a heck of a shooter.

wang4three 06-27-2006 04:27 PM

He's better than Steve, but I doubt he wins as many rings or hits as many big shots.

hotsizzle 06-27-2006 04:28 PM

one thing we really needed last yr was someone who can make open jumpshots, and this dude could end up being the best shooter in the league. aligned with kobe bryant, hes bound to get open looks as well.

on the college level he was better than Steve. way more athletic (its not even funny) but Kerr was incredible at his role. he was the closest to automatic ive ever seen in a 3 point specialist.

duke guys never slip. they often get drafted higher than what they're worth. the sad fact is that jj redick will be taken over a lot of much better players.

geeWiz15 06-27-2006 04:33 PM

Wizards will take him anyday... if there isn't a big men available of course.

Actually, nevermind, I'd rather have Mardy Collins

But we do need shooting. My only worry is that Eddie J doesn't use him right. So yeah, make it Collins.

Are you going to say that Kerr has a better pro career than Reddick will? It depends on stats vs. titles won. In my opinion, Reddick will have the better career as far as individual stats goes as well as personal achievements...however, it is very unlikely that he matches Kerr's 5 rings. So it'll depend on which you define as the better career. Kerr cannot help a rebuilding franchise, but a good piece for a contending team...whereas Redick is a good part for a rebuilding franchise, and even better for a contending team.

im going by talent. Reddick will have better stats without a doubt because he'll play more and take more shots. but i dont think he'll reach the shooting abilities of Kerr.

Why not? If Redick was asked only to camp out and shoot open threes then I think he'll be just as solid as Kerr was. But he won't. He'll be asked to come off screens and to even create his own offense and get to the line a lot more in a week than Steve did in a month. Redick is as good of a shooter as there has ever been. His numbers just sucked cause he was asked to be a #1 option, which he never will be asked to be in the NBA.

Heretik32 06-27-2006 05:18 PM

Houston will pick him up, they don't worry about bad backs.

traditionone 06-27-2006 05:28 PM

There are a lot of concerns about Redick. NBA shooting guards will eat him alive on the defensive end of the floor. He's not strong enough. Athletically, he may be able to stay in front of them, but he can't do much more than that. Put him on a point guard and they'll blow right by him.

He is also a system player. Can he get his own shot? I don't think so. He can come off screens, catch and shoot or take a couple of dribbles and hit a mid range jumper. He won't be able to shoot over the bigger 2 guards in the NBA, so he has to get open and find open space.

He should be slipping. He's not a lottery pick. He's a better shooter than Trajan Langdon, but Langdon was out of the league after a few seasons.

Trajan Langdon

I think he'll be better than Langdon too, but Langdon's career was heavily affected by stomach cancer which he didn't disclose to the media. He was a half-decent 1/2 in college and could've etched out a career similar to that of Kerr or Paxson if he didn't have to deal with it.
