Talk to me about recent music.
 

I've gone through this whole "disenchantment with recent music" phase lately. All I've bought recently is Miles Davis, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley and old U2.

I haven't heard much in the last ten years that I've really liked.

Recommend some stuff. Last 10 years or so. Please stay away from rap. I have plenty of rap that I like, but I find that I don't like rap that most other people do.

I'll probably pick up some Rage Against the Machine sometime soon.

If you're into some alternative rap (as in not mainstream), I'd suggest some Masta Ace and Cunninlynguists. Sorry, I just had to throw that out there. I try to recommend them to people whenever I can.

Anything made by the Red Hot Chili Peppers in the last 10 years. Some people didn't like their new album, but I found it to be an album I could listen to every single song from start to finish. Your mileage may vary.

White Stripes are pretty good, at least from what I've heard of them. Good enough to give them a try, anyways. A lot of people seem to like Jack Johnson, but I never really got into him so I can't tell for sure.

Probably because rock music peaked about 30+ years ago and has been garbage since about 1990.

Within the last 10 years...?
-Enigma (particularly "The Screen Behind the Mirror", "Voyageur", "Le Roi Est Mort...", and "A Posteriori")
-Amethystium (anything, although if you're wary then just peep "Emblem")
-Ziggy Marley "Dragonfly"

although lately i've been mostly listening to Smashing Pumpkins' "Mellon Collie..."

I know you said no rap, but you owe it to yourself to find Aceyalone's "A Book of Human Langauge" if you don't already have a copy...

check out Amy Winehoue. the 2nd track off her new album "you know i'm no good" is pretty good & her new album as a whole is pretty solid.
