Big Ass Suns Discussion Thread

Wanted to find a place to put this, why not right here..

Heard on the radio yesterday that the Suns medical staff found a stress fracture in Alex Lens leg. They are jumping on it early and the SMS are pretty much gods, hopefully it won't get worse.

Discuss summer league here

Discuss everything else offseason related (trades, rumors, signings) in this thread.

Whats our starting 5 looking like being? With Hornacek coaching I have no idea what he will want to do. Not doubting his coaching at all, I'm excited to see how this season turns out.

And what about Frye? Has anybody heard anything on him?

I personally don't feel that Frye should ever be one of our best players or our Starter, that to me would suggest we have some gaping holes. He's a nice player, great off the bench, even better when he's got his confidence.

no clue what the deal on frye is. seems like it's being brushed under the rug at the moment - might not be good.

Have the Suns amnestied anyone yet? Could Frye be a candidate for it.

Didn't we use our amnesty on Childress last year?

We did, are we not allowed to amnesty again this year?

In all honesty, I have no idea about the rules, I thought it was one per team, no idea if it was once a year.

And we still have Scola, we have a heap of players to play at the 4, just gotta see what Horney does.

The Suns announced Saturday that 2013 lottery pick Alex Len has undergone a second ankle surgery in a little more than two months.

“As a precautionary measure, our medical staff determined that it would be prudent to perform surgery on Alex Len’s right ankle at this time,” Suns president Lon Babby said in a statement. “That surgery was successfully completed this morning. As part of a routine evaluation, our medical team identified the very beginnings of a stress fracture in Alex’s right ankle even though Alex was entirely asymptomatic.”

Len, who was unable to conduct pre-draft workouts because he underwent surgery to “stabilize” a partial stress fracture in his left ankle in May, is expected to be available for the 2013-14 season opener. His initial timeline after the first surgery was placed at 4-to-6 months, but that didn’t prevent his name from being floated as a possible No. 1 pick in the 2013 draft. He eventually went to Phoenix at No. 5.

Listed at 7-foot-1-inch, the 20-year-old Ukranian averaged 11.9 points, 7.8 rebounds and 2.1 blocks as a sophomore at Maryland.

New Suns general manager Ryan McDonough addressed Len’s left ankle injury following the draft, noting that Phoenix’s famed medical staff expected a full recovery and no lingering issues.

“Our medical people, who are some of the best in the league, took a close look at it and studied it,” McDonough told Valley Of The Suns. “And we’re confident he won’t have issues going forward. So I guess I’ll just say we would not have drafted him if we thought it was a significant medical risk.”

Regardless of how Len’s double recovery plays out, Phoenix still has has incumbent starting center Marcin Gortat on the roster. McDonough said recently he has no plans to trade Gortat, who expressed some unhappiness with his role on a struggling Suns team last season.

“Well, I’m certainly not looking to move Marcin,” McDonough told Arizona Sports 620 AM last week. “We think he’s a top-15 starting center in the NBA, and those guys are hard to find. … We love his ability to rebound, to screen-and-roll, to finish around the basket, he’s a pretty tough guy — he’s strong, he’s athletic. Like I said, those guys are hard to find.”

Re: Big Ass Suns Discussion Thread

all the talks about the Pacers getting Scola, i think the decision made by the Suns are underrated in this trade.

* Suns trade Scola for Green, Plumlee, 1st-round pick

1st round pick is lottery protected, but i don't think anyone see the Pacers missing the POs.
Scola is good, but not at all a good piece in our rebuild.
Rather than letting him walk, the Suns gotten a 1st round, in the next deep draft (not saying it will pend to something, but an additional pick is never something bad). Then we get high flying wing Gerald Green, and 2nd year center Plumlee, 27 and 24 respectively. The Suns are making well-thought moves this off season, something we haven't seen in awhile.
Future looking bright so far. Cheers

cant complain about adding another pick in dat draft. with goodwin going at #30 in this years, who knows who will be there with this pacers pick (pretty early to say stuff like this I know) green might be entertaining but i dont like his contract. plumlee is a big who has room to develop here, especially if we dont have len opening day (i have no idea what is going on there at the moment)

gonna miss scola so much, but will show him much love in indy.
