Handchecking in pickup games?

How do you fellas feel about guys that handcheck in pickup games? Is this looked down upon or do you use it? I feel like in my older age this will allow me to still be a force defensively, but since I just play for fun and not for blood I don't want to be "that guy".

Tips from the handcheckers without fouling?

Handchecking is fine, as long as its not violent.

Assuming you keep good defensive position, you can use handchecking without being an asshole about it. If you can see someone's thinking about driving on you, a well placed hand on their ball-side hip flexor can hinder explosiveness and doesn't look too egregious. Just make sure you're always moving with the ball-handler as well.

On the other hand, if you're just slapping at their forearms while they're still at the top of the key after the check, no shit they're going to call you out on it.
