的知 telling you, man you gotta see this dude now, this dude understands football, Irvin added. 的 gotta say it, I never thought he had the capability of understanding the game the way he understands the game.

的f he can stay healthy, he値l be off the charts. I知 telling you, man, this dude sees things now.

I think Dez would need 2,200 yards, and 18 TDs, and on top of THAT the Cowboys would have to have at least a 11-5 record...if that happens (and although very unlikely, it is not impossible) then I think Irvin may be correct here

I would bet all the money in my pockets that Dez never sniffs an MVP for his entire career. Has a WR ever won an MVP? I don't recall one winning it.

no a WR never has...and yes it would be difficult given that their QB get's most of the cred for what they do

the stats I put in the OP is what I think it would take

If Dez put up those number then I would have to think Romo's numbers would be off the charts as well and then they'd probably give Romo the MVP

yeah, I think what would have to happen is that Romo would have to get injured sometime mid season and then Dez continues to put up monster numbers with Orton

it's near impossible...for any WR

If he didn't get hurt, didn't go through a few games floating, etc. Sure. Has something changed that these thigns are gone 100% for all 16 games (as they'd need to be for him to be MVP)?

He has the talent to be MVP IMO but he'll never be MVP.

If any WR is going to win MVP it's going to be Calvin Johnson, you know....the superior player.

Highly unlikely? No, those numbers are impossible. :oldlol:

Jerry Rice, who is pretty much unarguably the greatest wide receiver who has ever lived, never approached those numbers in a season. He had a 1,078 yard, 22 touchdown season in 1987 and a 1,848 yard, 15 touchdown season in 1995, but never anything really approaching 2,200 yards, 22 touchdowns. You would need to take Rice's best yardage season and combine it with his best touchdown season to come up with those numbers.

As great as Randy Moss was, he never approached 2,000 yards receiving and only went over 1,500 yards one time in his career.

In other words, impossible for Dez Bryant to approach anything resembling 2,200/18.

Meanwhile, will Dez Bryant even be the best receiver in the league this year, statistically? I mean, he has an outside shot I guess and it will probably be one of Calvin, Marshall, Dez, Julio, AJ Green or Thomas.

...not only will he outdo all of those guys, but he is primed the greatest statistical season in the history of the position? What is this based on? Sure, Tony Romo can sling the ball and he'll be the clear centerpiece of the offense, but their offensive line stinks. And, while Romo is a good quarterback, he absolutely is not a great quarterback.

I'd bet my house and everything I own against Dez Bryant approaching 2,000 yards receiving this year, let alone the 18 touchdowns to go with it.

On a side note, someone needs to check Michael Irvin's car for a crackpipe.

Yeah RBA its like a 1 in million...but I don't like the Rice comparison...it is more of a pass happy league now and many of Rices seasons were just 14 games. I believe he was on pace for 2,000 in 16 games one of those years.

Also should be noted that I read after that Sapp predicted Tannehill to top Marino's best season...I didn't see this live but I not sure these guys were being real serious.

Calvin didn't get 2000 yards and he played on an offense that broke the record for pass attempts, lost its #2, 3, 4, and 5 options, and had a shit running game.

Dez has no chance. And if he puts up those numbers, the Cowboys as a whole didn't do well

:facepalm

Talking out of your ass again I see. :confusedshrug:

Jerry Rice played his WHOLE career under a 16 game schedule.

Maybe he was hurt two games a lot?

14 games was a long time ago, I've been watching football at least 30-35 years and I don't remember it.

Wasn't trying to make stuff up I was just...wrong

For some reason I thought many of Jerrys first seasons were 14 games...and that he had tge greatest recieving year when averaged out.

Hmm...wtf

Either way I still don't like the comparison...different times

I never understood why some people don't just use the internet. You're already on it. It's like when people ask basic questions on forums or those q/a sites. If they typed in the exact same question in google, they would get the answer immediately. :confusedshrug:

Re: Michael Irvin: I知 expecting Dez Bryant to be named NFL MVP this season

I know what I was confusing it with now. In 87 Rice only played 12 games and he had 22 TDs. Moss holds the record with 23, but Rice was on pace to blow that away.

So I guess from that I just mixed it up with shorter seasons some how...

I apologize to everyone...VERY VERY RARELY am I wrong
