Adrian Peterson the MDE of RBs?

78 yard touch down run first carry of the season.

Is Adrian Peterson the Shaq level MDE of NFL running backs?

No, Jim Brown, Barry & Dickerson were just as good in their peak.

You could probably make a case for a few others. Marshall Faulk for one.

No.

And, for the record, he had a 78 yard run on the first play of the game and finished with 93 yards rushing.

Lots is a bit of hyperbole but only a bit. I've seen more powerful runners, better at breaking tackles. You haven't?

And he also had a fumble lost.

And Emmitt Smith, people love to not mention him but I will ALL THE TIME. And Walter Payton.

Tomlinson was better

You could argue equal, but not better. Nobody is just better than AP at his best.

I'll take Tomlinson, superior all-around back with a great receiving game along with dominant running game.

LT was the truth.

LT = Lawrence Taylor, not Tomlinson.

Jinxed Peterson after that amazing run. Tomlinson, Peterson, Faulk all in my top 10 RBs of all time. Go figure. Emmitt is no Peterson.

What is your top 5?

Re: Adrian Peterson the MDE of RBs?

Barry Sanders was better than AP. I say that confidently.

I'd also make a case for Tomlinson and Marshall Faulk.

Maybe Faulk didn't have the natural talent of AP, but I think his versatility was easier to build a great team around. Then, when you are talking in an all-time sense, you have to look at Dickerson, Brown, Payton, OJ...

AP is a great player, but it would be a major feat for him to get into the Top 5 all-time when his career is all said and done... a major feat.
