Expire..

After This year these contracts will expire..
Allan Houston ($20,718,750), Jalen Rose ($16,901,500), Maurice Taylor (9,750,000) and Shandon Anderson ($7,172,995) are due to expire. That's $54,543,245M coming off the cap!

expect a big name player to be signed

jjswifty 06-29-2006 11:03 PM

No, cause we'll still be over the cap. Around $70 million. :banghead:

It will be a long long time before the Knicks have the cap room to make some good moves.

its going to be better then we are at now..a couple sign and trades

houselog442 06-30-2006 01:13 AM

I don't know if they can be able to sign someone or sign and trade. Thats the thing i couldnt believe about the Francis is deal is they could have dumped Penny's pathetic, bloated salary and been in better shape. If they can make a move, i think they should trade Curry, because thier not going to be able to play uptempo with him, as he is going to be out of shape, and is a lousy rebounder. To play uptempo you have to have great rebounders for their size (like Shawn Marion) and the Knicks do not have that at all. I think they are going to move Frye over to Center to play this style of ball. (though he isn't a great rebounder either)

I think Houston's contract may come off a little earlier, i think because of his insurence his contract will be paid off on oct 17th, either all of it or 80%, depending on what the CBA says, but i am pretty sure the knicks salary for next season will be more like $115 million and not the $135 million that they are claiming. This is also the reason they didn't amnesty his contract.

if the knicks knew how to draft, and didnt trade away there draft board they would be able to let bad contracts expire and the young players would fill the void.
5years ago, 3 years ago this should have been the plan.

I really hope the Knicks don't do any major deals this or next season. Get some salary room heading into the summer of '08 and try and sign some one from the '03 Rookie class.

Maybe Carmelo gets fed up with Denver? Maybe Chris Bosh starts to hate Toronto? Maybe Darko developes in the Raef LaFrentz (Denver version) that I think he could become?

I say keep the roster as is for the most part and wait to see who ffrom that group becomes available.
