What book would you suggest? I’m working overnights with nothing to do for like 6 months minimum. I’m sitting at work online bullshitting from like 11-5 every single ****ing night. Might as well learn something.
This is the book I read. Its expensive and I dont necessarily think you need it because there's a ton of free info on the internet. But it helped me a lot
Go to r/wallstreetbets for a fun time and some insight from time to time. Its full of people that refer to each other as 'autists' and degenerates. Eventually you'll understand why
I think you're smart enough to soak up the info and be able to make a killing. Good luck
Re: Finance Advice Thread
Exxon/Chevron are both good recovery plays too.
spread it out on major airlines, banks, hotel chains, restaurant chains....leave it there for a year or two...you will have doubled or even tripled your money
that's what I've been gearing up for
Banks aren't a good play, not with rates low for the foreseeable future.
Airlines could be ok, but they're balance sheets are horrible and they don't expect a quick recovery. They're thinking more like 2023. Doesnt mean they won't pop on vaccine news because they likely will. Buffett dropped most of his airlines holdings, i think it says he doesnt trust the industry. He's been wrong before, but i agree with him in this case

Lol, nice
Re: Finance Advice Thread
I've already been making good money on banks...it's all coming back...everything
banks, airlines, gas stations, restaurants, hotels, all of it...buy low sell high...that shit is all low optimism right now (like you just posted), and going by the Buffett usual method THAT is when you buy it up.
the large elite chains aren't going anywhere and will absolutely recover
Re: Finance Advice Thread
The market is at all time high though and they're all lagging. That's not a good sign.. its low optimism because banks don't make a lot of money when rates are this low. They've had baby gains compared to everything else... we're talking like 5%
There's just much better plays in the short-medium term imo.

not as covid vanishes...shit like Zoom and others will collapse and the recovery stocks will take off
Ideal youre supposed to dump the shit that has already skyrocketed (Tesla, Apple, etc) - "sell high"
And buy up the shit that is view with pessimism (banks, airlines, etc) - "buy low"
It's a simple concept really
only ones I wont ever sell...Amazon and Google...holding onto those for ever and ever and ever
Re: Finance Advice Thread
also the Dow is going to hit like 40,000 in a few a few years....

still PLENTY of room
the Gov just Trillions into circulation with Trillions more to come...it's going to cause a stock market explosion...this is just the beginning

We're already in recovery mode and they haven't taken off. That's the point. Recovery doesn't happen overnight for banks and airlines. this is a multi-year process for them
I'm not discounting that there will be a short term spike, there likely will be. But it won't last and eventually people will go right back into tech because that's the future.
Buying shit with pessimism just for the sake of it is not a good strategy. Bad sentiment exists for a reason. Otherwise go buy IBM because of 'bad sentiment', or Chesepeake energy

that is the Buffett way....be fearful when others are greedy (sell Tesla) and be greedy when others are fearful (buy banks, airlines, etc)
Banks and Airlines have a hell of a lot better chance at doubling up than Tesla and Apple do as of today.

Buffett is selling banks and airlines. Lol. You're touting the philosophy of a guy selling what you're buying.
And tesla and apple are outliers... yeah they've ran up because of stock splits and what not. I'd still rather have those than banks.
Re: Finance Advice Thread
these are his top stocks
Kraft Heinz (KHC), 325.6 million.
Apple (AAPL), 245.2 million.
Wells Fargo (WFC), 237.6 million.
American Express (AXP), 151.6 million.
U.S. Bancorp (USB), 131.9 million.
General Motors (GM), 74.7 million.
Bank of New York Mellon (BK), 72.4 million.
Sirius XM (SIRI), 50 million.
I think he dropped Wells Fargo in that list
his Kraft Heinz was a major flop
Tesla is the definition of an overpriced tech stock ....and everyone knows it, even Musk...that's why its so heavily shorted, everyone waiting for the correction

banks...airlines...gas...food...shelter...these are basically necessities and the major chains are not going anywhere...they are the opposite of a risky tech play
Re: Finance Advice Thread
Looks like a correction today. A lot of people panic selling - probably a lot of n00bs from robinhood getting scared and selling :oldlol:
Don't panic sell. Today is the day to hold or buy the dip.
Re: Finance Advice Thread
Tech stocks are correcting big...this is going in line with what I was just saying just yesterday lol...sell your overpriced tech shit, buy up the under priced energy/food/airline/bank/hotel/etc shit...most of that is up today btw
