Sonics Offer Wilcox For Marion
11th July, 2006 - 9:22 am
The News Tribune - After the Sonics offered Chris Wilcox a six-year $40 million extension, the discussions to re-sign him stopped.

Wilcox and his agent are seeking a six-year $60 million deal, similar to the one that Nene was offered.

Since then, the Sonics have been contemplating sign-and-trade offer inquiries.

The Suns called to find out Wilcox's asking price and the Sonics asked for Shawn Marion in return.

If they get Wilcox the suns will have no defense at the PF position....but prepare for another 20/7 big man hahahaha

What is the hype over Wilcox? Or is it just the fact he is 6'10 270lbs and athletic? Shawn Marion is way more valuable then Wilcox. Marion is an all star. Hopefully the Suns laughed. Cant see that trade ever going down. Seattle is nuts for raising his value so high.

re:

bench scrub who showed a lot of fight after the trade deadline last year a perennial All Star? I think not. Suns should pay the luxury tax... just pay it...

You can't blame a man for trying, but yea - Rick Sund is not in the right frame of mind right now.

Rick Sund...

:stupid:

Nothing like throwing cold water on the Suns championship opportunities in 2007 if this goes down.
WTF?

Joey Zaza 07-11-2006 11:03 AM

In Seattle's defense - there is conversation about Marion being tradable, but what they aren't getting is that the reason he is tradable is because he is expensive.

Why would Phoenix trade Marion's massive contract for Wilocx' massive contract.

I am with Seattle in refusing to pay.

anyway the sonics could get their hands on marcus williams from the sixers?

VCDrivesAPorscheToWork 07-11-2006 11:07 AM

re:

because Marcus Williams belongs to the Nets?

loot 07-11-2006 11:09 AM

my bad, i meant the nets...

VCDrivesAPorscheToWork 07-11-2006 11:16 AM

because Nets want to keep Marcus as their PG of the future and instant spark off the bench

and because if Wilcox is seeking a Nene contract, the Nets do not have what it take sto S&T him.

loot 07-11-2006 11:18 AM

if the nets would give up jefferson? i remeber traderumours about him.... the nets desperately need size...

re:

Jefferson is about to prime...

the Nets need size, but not at the expense of their core.

for Wilcox? RJ? Man am I missing something cause Wilcox was coming off the bench for the Clippers last year right? Guy is decent but definitely not worth Marion or RJ. Those guys are allstars.
