Re: 2021 Western Conference Round 2: (1) Utah Jazz vs. (4) L.A. Clippers
I do feel bad for Rudy as he takes the blame for everyone else on the team playing poor defence. The media thinks just because he’s DPOY no one should ever score on him.
His teammates are so used to him picking up the slack and taking the blame for their poor defence efforts.
As far as fans blaming Rudy for his poor defence. He was bad, but yes, obviously it's not all his fault. He was being asked to move out to the perimeter to guard 3's, which is counter to his traditional defensive mindset. I think Rudy gets a lot more flack in this series though for his poor, mechanics for lack of a better word. His offense was awful and he's quite literally, just bad at rebounding on both sides of the ball.
lol xiao i defend gobert a lot but he was even bad protecting the rim tonight vs george, mann, jackson. a small 5 out lineup can definitely exploit him too, they are very bad for the large majority of centers in the league besides ones who can dominate in the post/on the boards. Jokic got swept because he had no help. porter and gordon were awful and cp3 exploits every center
Gobert had help? He was missing his 2nd best player before tonite and he obviously was rusty. Going 6 without Conley was a great showing

Re: 2021 Western Conference Round 2: (1) Utah Jazz vs. (4) L.A. Clippers
It makes sense why they have pulled off back to back chokes:
Mike Conley has always been a choker since college
Mitchell does that close his eyes and takes a deep breath thing all the time, which is kind of a choker thing to do.
Gobert just gets clumsy in playoffs and doesn't play like himself.
I think the only clutch one is bogi

“His” 2nd player? Mitchell is the best player. Watch a playoff game for once.

Jazz would still make playoffs without Mitchell. They'd win 30 games max without Gobert.

Mitchell plays one end of the court mostly by himself. Conley plays both ends and makes those around him better. Conley and Gobert got them to the playoffs. Without them they are a lottery team

That’s nice. Mitchell is significantly better in the playoffs.

Gobert didn’t play either end of the court tonight.

yes when you have mitchell scoring 30ppg not to mention guys like bojan, clarkson, ingles, oneale compared to the nuggets giving markus howard legitimate minutes. Nuggets were relying heavily on a defensive specialist in campazzo(not even a rotation guy on multiple playoff teams) and austin rivers(true for him too) for a majority of their guard minutes. You do not want to argue this point. Going 6 is a bad showing when kawhi misses the last 2 games and ibaka didnt play a minute

Doesn't matter if they wouldn't even get to playoffs.

I never argued Gobert is their best player in the regular season though. He is consistently schemed out of the playoffs and we have now had two years in a row of Mitchell playing all time great on offense in the playoffs.

Everyone is playing all time great offense in this laughably cupcake Era. There's like 10 players averaging 30 in the playoffs.

I'd rather have Campazzo and Rivers than Clarkson anyday. Conley missed the first 5 games. He was one of the best players in the league this year. Obviously the Clippers missed their guys as well.
