Robinson waved from Nets

I don't like this from the Nets' standpoint, Robinson is still an ok player.

Nets Waive Cliff Robinson

RealGM Staff Report -
The New Jersey Nets have requested waivers on forward Clifford Robinson, Nets President Rod Thorn announced today.

Robinson averaged 4.1 points, 2.4 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 50 contests this past year, which was 18th NBA campaign, making him the most tenured active player who played the entire 2006-07 season. The UConn product went on to appear in four games for the Nets during the 2007 NBA Playoffs, totaling three points in 20 minutes. In 159 games over two and a half years with the Nets, Robinson averaged 5.8 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Wouldn't have been the best influence on Sean Williams who already has problems with drugs and this frees up an open roster spot for a 3rd string point guard. We're not as thin upfront as we used to be, we have Krstic, Collins, Boone, Sean Williams and a big man that we're yet to sign like Mihm, Magloire or Moore.

thats an excellent point about Williams, who has loads of potential as long as he's not mixed up with the wrong influences.

Since Robinson and Williams have documented issues with marijuana, and Cliff would be william's main big-man mentor, Uncle Cliffy is better off retiring. Better for himself, Williams, and the Nets organization.

they'd have to sign him to the league minimum for veterans who have played a certain number of years...

sweet for Cliff because he'd be cashing checks from LA and NJ

What respect should we give him? He left us hanging against Miami in the playoffs two years ago with a suspension on drug use, after we trusted him through an 82 game season. We give him another chance to redeem himself, and he puts absolutely no effort or purpose into playing last season, basically being a defensive and offensive liability, worse than Collins. When we needed him the most, he didn't show up, literally. He was supposed to be a big piece to our puzzle, an experienced big man who could defend and shoot from the outside, but he played like a rookie last year.

I know he's old, but Come on. If you don't want to play, then retire, and quit playing this game of "I want to be the oldest NBA player ever." Otherwise, don't wear a Nets uniform, and take your silly games elsewhere.
