Personally I think this is a way to Repare his image and I respect what he is doing.

Hopefully this is a way That will get those other arenas to stop booin the dude.

On one hand, people would see this as a joke and either laugh at it or not pay any attention to it because of his "alleged" past. On the other hand, some people would like to come to a guy who has past experiance in dealing with major problems. Whether the whole rape incident actually occured or not, he still had to deal with it, and that alone would make him able to assist others. I don't see this happening though.
