Re: There has never been a more mind****ed ATG player than Kevin Durant
Its not just 1 reason.
Its probably 5 different reasons thrown together and added up was too much pressure on his mind.
KD not being embraced and loved in GS like Steph was.
Media and fans not anointing him as best player in the world.
Media and fans saying he is a bitch for joining a 73 win team that just beat him after he was up 3-1.
Him being unsatisfied with how easy it was to win with a 73 win team.
Draymond green calling him a bitch to his face and saying GS doesn't need KD.
It was never going to be KD's team and that bothered him.
There's many reasons why he left. Each reason alone is not enough, but together it was overwhelming.
I don't know why he would have ever assumed he would be. Steph is home-grown talent.

We did not draft him and Steph is the reason the Warriors are on the map. In no world would dubs fans ever love him as much as they do Steph. For him to even think that was possible is pure delusion and lack of perspective. Now, that does not mean that he would not have been loved. Had the dude stuck around especially when things got tough with Klay getting hurt and Steph getting hurt the following season, the love of the fanbase for him for sticking around through the bad times would have greatly magnified. Loyalty is bred under intense adversity. 2019 was the first time dubs with KD faced adversity and KD shrank and ran. Even as someone who disliked him back then, I would have 100% grown to like the guy if he stuck around and helped us build back up. It's funny because Andrew Wiggins in just 2 seasons is now more loved than KD ever was. All KD needed to do was not be an emotional lesbian and drama queen kept to his business and hooped. That's all the fans could have asked from him.

It's funny because in just a few short seasons, Wiggins has more love from the fanbase than KD ever did. Fans didn't like him because he brought extra baggage and tried to hijack the entire organization and take credit for what Steph and the others around him had built up.

That is true. Like what vector said it was pretty short sighted of him to think he would swoop in and be the face of the franchise. It was Steph’s team. He was there from the beginning when it was the worst team in the league and was the catalyst to building it into the greatest one.
What’s also funny is that KD did not get mistreated or judged harshly by Bay Ares fans and media. To be honest the media played patty cake with him and never stuck it to him…even in times where criticism would be fair. Everyone walked on eggshells around him during his time here because they knew how he was. Everyone until Draymond finally went off on him. Which I’m fine with actually. When you hold back on someone for so long because how sensitive they are….feelings get built up and culminates in an explosion.
Re: There has never been a more mind****ed ATG player than Kevin Durant
Local media protected KD obviously. Its national media and social media that wouldn't stop bullying KD.
To this day social media still harassing KD about his golden state "legacy" and it gets to him.
I re-read all the reasons why he left and its weaksauce in my opinion. I would have stuck with GS and win 6 rings just to see the haters faces melt.
All the online criticisms got to his head.

The only people that bullied KD was social media. After winning ring #2, you could see the narrative around him began to shift in the national media. All you have to look at to verify what I'm saying is to look at how he still gets coddled by the media despite just getting swept and now trying to force himself out of BKN with 4 years still on his contract. The national media is enamored by his "bag" and supposed godly basketball skills and treat him as if he's a god tier player. The only time KD got flack for his move was during the first season with the Warriors. After they won, the narrative pretty much shifted.
And he's dumb for leaving. (Im glad he left) If he actually paid attention to people like Lebron, he would see that winning is all that matters. At a certain point, people will forget the context of his wins just like they've forgotten for Lebron (constant team hopping, deck stacking, etc) and would just credit him for being the reason the Warriors are winning. I'm glad he left because Steph isn't the type to force him out by being antagonistic ala Kobe and Shaq.
Re: There has never been a more mind****ed ATG player than Kevin Durant
The notion that KD was better than Curry on the Warriors because he won both FMVP's is dubious. As people have pointed out, Curry faced more defensive attention and opened up the floor for Durant and Curry has far superior impact stats. I don't have a problem with saying they were 1a/1b but calling KD clearly better is hyperbole. One better have some serious evidence for that...
And yes if KD never joined the Warriors, he'd almost certainly be ringless and most people do take that into consideration. KD is a top 15-20 player but he hasn't moved past the tier in which players like both Malones, KG, Dirk, Dr J, Oscar, West reside in. Curry IMO has and is ahead of all those guys at this point. Klay/Dray are good but without Steph those guys aren't HOFers. Westbrook without KD is still a HOFer. As dumb as Russ is, you can't discount his talent... He is worse than his stats would suggest but he was still really damn good.
Well, one thing's for sure tho. Kd never went 0-8 in go-ahead shots during the last 20 seconds of crucial playoff situations.

I tend to agree here.
Bill Russell was never crying to himself about how stacked of a team he had and played against a bunch of bum competition. He just racked up 11 rings and gave the finger to everyone.
That's what KD shoulda done, just rack up the rings like Russell did.

Yes, both players had stacked teams, but outside of that the two situations couldn't be more different. Russell was the cornerstone of that dynasty, and the Celtics didn't win anything before he got there and didn't win anything in the 4 seasons after he retired. Durant joined a team with a championship core in place, one that won a title and broke the win record before he got there, then in their first healthy season together won another title.

What about Magic Johnson demanding to go to the Lakers to play with KAJ? How many people asterisk or discount all the Lakers titles? You are a prisoner in the moment with a chip on your shoulder because you are a LeBron Stan. Once all of your kind goes away, all the normal basketball fans won’t give a **** about it.

I actually agree that Magic gets a huge pass for doing that, but honestly even that example doesn't come close to comparing to what KD did. The Lakers were a 2nd tier playoff team with Kareem that never even made it past the 2nd round his first 4 years in L.A. The closest example you'll find to KD would be Moses joining Doc & the Sixers after they made 3 Finals together before he got there, but even that isn't on equal terms with KD going to the Warriors.
Sure, 25-50 years from now fans that weren't around for this era might not put any consideration into what KD did and take his titles at face value, but honestly, even that's extremely dubious. All it's going to take is a quick look through basketball reference to see that the Warriors won a title before he got there then won another after he left, and that isn't even including winning 73 games and making another Finals trip after he got injured.
Re: There has never been a more mind****ed ATG player than Kevin Durant
As far as I remember magic didn't demand to go to the Lakers. They drafted him with the first pick lol

No joke no all time great gets defended as much as emotional dumbass is in the media. Keep in mind the Nets organization paid this guy 35 million a year without ever stepping on a court once, just to recover the whole time. Gave him a black card to spend money on hotels, hoes, and things they wanted for fun along with his cancer brother. They started overspending so much, they took the card away. He got his long contract and got mad because the guy who has played 1/3rd as much as Looney did this season wanted a 5-year quarter of a billion dollar.
After all that, especially the part where he got 35 million just to rehab on his first year, he turned his back on the entire team to hand transfer request with 4 years on his contract. Just wait until the next CBA, cuz these dumbass players are going to find out what happens. It's no longer going to be a negotiation at that point, it's just going to a be list of demands from 30 billionaires, and they either accept it soon or they accept it much later when none of the players a get dime until it gets resolved. Situations like Harden, the cancer brothers, and bitch Simmons are not going to continue happening with ease as they have after the next CBA is sorted.

Sauce?
That's cap circumvention 100%.
The next CBA gonna be ruthless. Owners let these super max contract players run wild and some of them are abusing the shit out of it.
Damian Lillard preach loyalty, got his super max, and is now not happy. Same with Harden, Ben Simmons, Durant, etc etc.
