So Steve Nash Free Throws

So far on the season Nash is 27 for 27 on the free throw line. How long can he keep it up? The current record for consecutive free throws made is 97, I know it's not a big deal but just sort of interesting.

Remember Mark Price coming close to record about a season after Williams broke it.

Calvin Murphy held the record for a long time at 78 straight. I remember watching Larry Bird chase Murphy's record. After 71 consecutive, Bird uncharacteristically stepped off of the line and looked nervous as he missed his next shot. That was one of the stranger moments I have witnessed in my time watching the NBA. That is the only time that I ever saw Bird wilt under intense pressure (everyone in the gym knew he was going for the record).

How about this for trivia...

At the 1935 Y.M.C.A. Sports Carnival in Chicago, Harold “Bunny” Levitt made 499 consecutive free throws. He missed his 500th attempt, then didn't miss again through 873 attempts. They had to stop him because it was time to close. He made 872 of 873 free throws.

Someone introduce LeBron and Duncan to Harold Levitt.

Btw, Ted St. Martin holds every world free throw record, including 5,221 straight in 1996.

kobe made 62 straight in 2006 so Nash can probably go for more.
Ill guess he misses at 38.

I remember when Calvin Murphy had the record, and Bird wasn't far from breaking it. And Murphy hollering at Bird trying to break his concentration. Bird's streak stopped at 71 that game. And Calvin was celebrating.

*Nash licks fingers*

*Warm up the shooting arm by using imaginary shooting form*

*Catches ball*

*Ready to fire*

*Ahhhhhcheeeew*

*Miss, Gameover, record over*

Really? Why didn't an NBA team pick him up? Think about the final seconds of a close game when you know the team will foul on purpose. Just save him for those times and those times only.

If there's a guy in the league who could hit for 97% in a season, it's either Nash or Redd.
