Larry Brown or Stephon Marbury

After a long, Boring, and very torturous season, it seems like brown's stock is lowering being on teams for very short terms.

James Dolan, Knicks owner, Wants a buyout of Brown's contract for 25 mill.

Brown is a great coach, But why is it that everywhere he goes hes gone within 2 or 3 seasons and most likely 1 season.

He convinced Isaiah to trade to MAJOR EXPIRING CONTRACTS for a Steve francis and Jalen rose and lost interest in them after only a few games.

Correct me If I am wrong, but it seems Brown's Goal is going to teams only to rob them of their money in the most legal way he can.
He never gives players much freedom to do what they want and manages to break the confidence of growing potential stars (ex. Dark Milicic)

Why should he stick around. teams that have veteran skilled players are the teams that need brown because he loves using veterans and benches young growing stars. he should go to a team like the spurs or the Hornets. Whatever has the most veteran players.

But he can't coach any type of team. That is why he isn't as good of a coach. A bad coach loses his player's interests in him. A good coach brings the best out of his players and doesnt go through the media everytime a player does something he doesnt like.

I would choose Stephon in this case, But that doesnt mean stephon is completely innocent either.

If i have to pick, i pick marbury. With that group of players, Larry just wasn't the right coach. Too much athleticism to play a slow offense. Marbury had the right idea when he said they had to run, and Brown's stubborness killed the team.

LB

once zeke ships out marbury (to who? no clue) the rest of the players will get it through their heads that LB isn't just passing thruogh and everything will be ok cause they'll just fire him and bring in ANOTHER coach. LB is a proven winner and should be given the support to help turn this team around.

LB > Marbury but...

Last season was entirely Larry's fault. He didn't have a set rotation the entire year. And the way he dealt with Steph, Nate, Trevor and Channing Frye was awful.

I wouldnt want either to be honest.

Marbury has talent, but no brains.

Larry is done. He wont be coaching for more than a few years from here and a lot of the players these days wont listen to him knowing that. The entire New York team for instance.

LB is >than Marbury, but LB is limited as a coach. He is only willing to coach his type of players, look at Phoenix there coach can coach anybody, brown can't with him you have to play his way the right way, remember it was Brown that traded Thomas to Chi in the first place because he did not like Thomas's game in Phily. In Pho thomas just went out and played basketball.
Zeke has a lot of up-tempo types on this team and brown is not an offensive coach. So, yes LB is > Marbury, LB does not fit in with the Knicks so he should go.

How do we know this for certain? So far his GM has done a particularly good job of getting his type of player. LB is in a situation where a bonehead GM is caught up in the names instead of actually making them match. Isiah has put together some talent that might work with a different coach, but certainly wont work with LB.

Both need to go including alot of other pieces....You guys should be plying the young good guys that hustle like Frye and David Lee. Jalen Francis Crawford and Mo Taylor need to go. You guys should have used the cap space from Thomas and Penny to restart with the young guns.

Dude, Richardson was not a good match in Pho he is not a spot up shooter, but they got somethind out of him anyway, what did LB get out of Richardson this year? What did LB get out of T.Thomas? What did LB get out of Bell? In Athens what did LB get out of Marion and Amare?

New York is in such a hole with LB, Isiah and all those bad contracts & similar players. But if Isiah is able to make a big trade this summer for a big man who blocks shots & rebounds, then all those trades would make sense. Id say keep LB, trade Starbury, Franchise, Jalen. Keep Curry, Q-rich, Nate Robinson, Frye, Lee together.

Thats funny. Thats all he did last year. He is a guy with no conscience. He was quite willing to just fire away out there. Which given the players around him made him a perfect fit for the system. He was a different player in LA than he was for Phoenix but he was a player whose skills fit the system. Ie he was athletic and he could shoot. Im breaking it down to its most simple there, but thats the basic of it. He most certainly isnt a Larry type though and Larry is stubborn.

Not going to argue on that last point. Larry doesnt make an effort to get production out of players that arent his type of guys. Just doesnt play them and he does it at the expense of the team. That doesnt make the team any better a fit for him. It is still an awful match.

robingirl80 06-08-2006 11:35 AM

LB has an impressive resume but the simple fact is that he often butchers the relationship with his star guys and this year he managed to ruin his relationship with nearly everyone on the team. I think if he wants to be an effective coach again he's going to have to learn to deal with today's players. Very few of them are going to allow him to take them to task in the media (deservedly or not). He should have kept most of what he said about his players in the locker room and then maybe he wouldn't have lost the respect of his guys.

Da KO King 06-08-2006 12:30 PM

Rather have Marbury. Marbury tried adapting to Brown even while Brown continued to take shots at him through the media.

Brown still is unwilling to accept he has an uptempo roster. He accepted it long enough to sign the contract but went back to doing what he does once his names was on the dotted line.
