What happened to Grand Ma Ma?

Is it just me or is Larry Johnson the most invisible former superstar in the history of sports? You don't see him on interviews, ESPN classic, commercials, infomercials...Dancing with the Stars...nothing? Is he still in the Charlotte area? When I say Larry Johnson now most people think of the RB for the Kansas City Chiefs....where did you go Grand Ma Ma?

"In July 2007, LJ expressed interest in making a comeback with the Knicks in some type of "leadership role"."

I guarantee he'd be a better coach than Zeke.

Re: What happened to Grand Ma Ma?

3 things with LJ

1. He is very very rich. You probably never see him because he doesn't want to or need ot be seen.

2. In the '99 playoff run LJ was starting to open his mouth and some pretty weird stuff was coming out. Maybe not weird -- I don't remeber specifically what he said - but was either weird or outrageous or unfathomable -- it was just off. May be that reporters keep away for that reason or his advisors keep him away.

LJ was in bad shape at the end -- not as in fat, as in - in pain. He may not be up for the rigors of public life.

Larry Johnson is a very rich man JB5.

Your mother might just be working at his mansion.

LJ could make a solid college coach, not Head Coach.
He could be a good coach to teach players how to box out and how to play defense for some college program.

Definetly not strength and conditioning:oldlol:

I think you don't hear much about him because he was a little bit weird. He had some trouble with the media and teammates on all his teams. Remember he is the reason the Hornets traded Mourning.

Also, does anyone else remember when the Knicks made the finals as the 8th seed and LJ kept making reference to black slavery? I remember he got into it with media darling Bill Walton.

It was mainly injuries on account of him coming out of college at 35.

Re: What happened to Grand Ma Ma?

According to wikipedia:

Quote:

During the 1999 NBA Finals, Johnson characterized the Knicks as a band of "rebellious slaves." Bill Walton later called Johnson and his performance "a disgrace to the game of basketball." When Johnson was asked about the play of Spurs' point guard Avery Johnson in Game 4, Johnson again shifted the topic to slavery. "That's my man, Ave, because we're from the same plantation. We've both got the Johnson name," he said. "You tell Bill Walton that. We're from Massa Johnson's plantation."
