Bye Bye Hoffa! LoL!

(June 8, 2006) -- The Toronto Raptors announced Thursday they have acquired forward Kris Humphries and centre Robert Whaley from the Utah Jazz in exchange for centre Rafael Araujo.

“We wish Rafael well and feel this will be a positive move for both teams,” said Raptors president and general manager Bryan Colangelo.

Humphries, 6-foot-9, 235 pounds, was a first-round selection (14th overall) by the Jazz in 2004. The former University of Minnesota product was an early entry candidate after one season with the Gophers. He was the first freshman to lead the Big Ten in both scoring (21.7) and rebounding (10.1), and was named 2004 Big Ten Freshman of the Year and All-Big Ten First Team by the media and coaches.

Humphries has averaged 3.6 points, 2.7 rebounds and 11.6 minutes in 129 career games with Utah. He saw action in 62 games this past season, averaging 3.0 points and 2.5 rebounds. He had a high of 16 points and 10 rebounds at Phoenix on November 18 for his second career double-double.

Humphries averaged 4.1 points, 2.9 rebounds and 13.0 minutes in his rookie campaign. He scored a career-high 17 points March 26, 2005 versus Milwaukee and had a career-best 12 rebounds April 20, 2005 at Golden State.

Whaley, 6-foot-10, 260 pounds, was a second-round selection (51st overall) of Utah’s in 2005. He attended Walsh University in North Canton, Ohio and as a senior led the team to the NAIA Division II National Championship. He appeared in 23 games last season for the Jazz, where he averaged 2.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 9.2 minutes.

Araujo averaged 2.9 points, 3.0 rebounds and 12.0 minutes in 111 career games with Toronto. He was drafted in the first-round (eighth overall) by the Raptors in 2004.

Great trade IMO. I think Humph has alot more talent and potnetial than Hoffa and Waley only can't be a downgrade at C.

Great trade BC! :applause:

Hopefully Humphries fulfills his potentials and well Araujo has no potential whatsoever.:)

Great deal ridding ourselves of the worst player in the NBA. Humphries can score the ball and is a very solid backup to Bosh. Nice BC!

Is Humphy a good enough player to back up Bosh and make Charlie V tradeable.

Chamberlain 06-08-2006 05:53 PM

I don't know if he makes Charlie tradable but he's definetly the kinda guy we need backing up Chris Bosh. He's a tough low post player and he doesn't shy away from contact and he rarely leaves the paint. He has yet to make an impact in the NBA but he's still young and will have a great oppurtunity to improve with the Raptors. Solid trade.

I thought no one wanted Araujo

Booya!

I wouldn't be surprised if I read somewhere that Bryan Colangelo worked part time as a magician or a hypnotist before getting involved in NBA management.

Eric Williams is still here.

Whaley is junk, will never even step on the court. Humphries is a great pickup that can backup bosh and plays RARE minutes at the 5. I like one thing a lot tho: Humphy is a banger, bonner is a sniper, the extremes of the spectrum, and raptors have both on the bench.
