"There are no plans to trade Melo," Andrews said. "Melo will be in a Denver uniform next year. That's the deal. They've they're not entertaining trades for Melo. It's not even in the cards."

Nuggets vice president of basketball operations Mark Warkentien, who is Denver's designated trade negotiator, declined comment.

This month, New Jersey Nets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe, who drafted Anthony when he was Nuggets GM, expressed interest in trading for Anthony.

In five seasons with Denver, Anthony has become a two-time all-star before the age of 24; his birthday is May 29. This past season, Anthony finished fourth in the NBA with 25.7 points per game and tallied a career-high 7.4 rebounds. But this postseason, he did not rise to the occasion against the talented Los Angeles Lakers, averaging 22.5 points while shooting 36.4 percent, compared to his season average of 49.2.

Anthony is expected to make $13.7 million next year from Denver, and he has four years left on his contract.

Great news for the Nuggets

Hope this is true because as much as I hate Melo's defense, I really don't want to see him gone. I always think, what if he has that breakout season next year? What if he slims down and works and improve his defense this summer? He is young and still has the potential to become one of the best in the NBA. It may sound ridiculous, but it's still possible and if Denver were to trade that away, then they'd be kicking themselves.

Good to know but after all the rumors I've heard, I can't completely guarantee what he's saying is true. Maybe a bit of denial is kicking in, but hopefully not.

All of the rumors came out of New Jersey, they all seemed pretty shaky to me to begin with..

I'm not a huge Melo fan but the guy can flat out play and would be a huge loss. Iverson is not getting younger and Carmelo is one of the ten best scorers in the league, making him very difficult to replace. I especially don't see Richard Jefferson as a smart replacement regardless of draft picks.
