Blazer Draft/Draft Day Trade Discussions

Place all draft and draft day trade rumors here. Go ahead and include speculation and your own ideas on what we should do.

That said: I was just listening to Jason Quick (Blazers insider for those non-Portlanders) through Comcast. Blazers are apparently in serious talks with Toronto, New York, Phoenix, and New Jersey. He said the Blazer-NJ trade that is being discussed does not involve Richard Jefferson because the Blazers see his contract as too big. Quick believes Blazers-NJ are discussing Devin Harris. He also said that one of the two Eastern teams (NY or NJ) have placed an official offer on the table that involves the #13 pick and a "rotation player" that the Blazers called "intriguing" and are up in the air on.

James Jones is expected to make a decision by today or tomorrow.

Blazers have reportedly received the #27 pick from New Orleans in return for cash considerations.

It will be announced tomorrow morning.

Seems like KP is just trying to get as many picks as possible.

Maybe he will just package ALL of our picks and move up in the draft, or package them for a vet pg.

The next few days will be very exciting, cant wait til Thursday at 4pm.

I think he is really going for Ante Tomic. If Spurs take Tomic, then maybe he'll repackage the pick.

CHRIS DOUGLAS-ROBERTS!!

OMG!!

If we get CDR I will blow!

IMO...He is one of the best all arounders in the draft and the only reason he's been slipping is for bad workouts but work outs is like NFL combine, it's abunch of stuff that will never happen in a game besides the shoot arounds.

According to NBADraft.net we are taking Robin Lopez and CDR in the first round.

According to MyNBADraft.com we're taking Alexis Ajinca and CDR

According to DraftExpress.com we're taking Alexis Ajinca and Mario Chalmers

I think more than anything, this shows that the deal with the "Eastern Conference team" has been agreed to and that KP was grabbing a first round pick since non was going to be coming back in that deal. I heard it is possibly Jarrett Jack + 13 to NY for David Lee

I was looking at the Knicks roster and that was the only guy I could imagine the Blazers going after if the trade weren't just for contract reasons. So, are we planning on trading Channing then?

I heard that the Trail Blazers were interested in Batum with the #13 pick before his heart problem occured in his Toronto workout. Since that incident, I've heard his draft stock has fallen a bit; maybe they could grab him here if he slips this far? It's not a huge possibility, but normally there's that one player that falls in every draft, and maybe he's this year's guy. I haven't been following what the Blazers are looking to do with their other picks, so maybe they're looking at a guy like Tomic, like Myth said. Kevin Pritchard sure does make these drafts interesting though.

How about this.

Portland Outgoing:
#27
Martell Webster
Jarret Jack

Detroit Outgoing:
Tayshaun Prince

Re: Blazer Draft/Draft Day Trade Discussions

Hmmm..... I think I'd do it. Prince and Battier are two of the guys that I think would fit in best at our SF position.

Channing and Martell's names have come up in the Devin Harris rumor.

Interesting. It gives us ever so slightly more cap room next year (only because of the 300% holding Jack had) plus the #10 pick. I hope this happens. I think it is good. Hassell has been around the league a while, so maybe he'd have some verteranship for us.

BlazersDozen 06-25-2008 08:04 PM

Re: Blazer Draft/Draft Day Trade Discussions

Hassell is just what we need in Portland. He's a hustle guy with pretty damn good man to man and perimeter defense. He's hit and miss on offense though.

It may be Maurice Ager instead of Hassell now. This is even better. Ager kind of sucks like Hassell, but he makes $1M then $1.9M instead of $4.3M then another $4.3M.
