The stat makes offensive rebounding more important that defensive rebounding when in reality defensive rebounding is far more important. It values steals more than blocks. And I agree that a steal is the end of a possession while a block may not be... steals and blocks are subjective. One game it may be a block while another game it is a steal. (Think Karl Malone swipe in which is can be classified either way and is depending on city.) Then you have the argument of who gets the steal: guy who deflects it or the guy that catches it. That depends on city too.

Then it actually makes personal fouls mean something when generally speaking big guys are the ones who get called for more fouls and the number of fouls you have at the end of the game is meaningless unless you foul out of course.

The whole Gamescore is a joke.

Defensive boards often just go to the defender in the right spot at the right time and are usually way easier to grab than offensive boards, which are almost always contested.

Also an offensive board usually means a high percentage shot from close range. While a defensive rebound means you have possession at the other end of the court.

Offensive boards are way more valuable.
