how I think the award should be given:
the voters should give it to the player "who is the best all-around player in the NBA". That should be determined by watching many many games. Not just looking at stats.

BUT, if we are talking about the traditional measure, as awarded in the past,
it should go to a standout player (i.e. one who puts up big numbers leading his team) on a team with top record (min. 50 wins).
