Default What a first tournament

As a first year team it is hard to compete in many tournaments. However we travelled to CT to play. Hartford is a lovely city and a couple of my players really showed up in this tournament. Devin Johnson (5'11 forward) and Chris Monroe (5'3 guard) played extremely well in the 14u tournament. We managed to beat some good teams and finished in 3rd losing to the Warriors. A local AAU team out of Bridgeport. We stayed around to watch the championship game which was a hard fought game with a team from New York called the New York Warriors won by 2 points. They were an extremely well coached team and I got some great ideas after talking with their coach. The Hawks AAU program congratulate the New York Warriors and Coach Glen Steinberg. His team captain was much younger then the rest of the kids in the division and really did a good job calling out plays and being competitive against older and bigger kids. His name was Jason Desimone but I am not sure about the spelling.

We also want to thank the Tournament Director Matt for helping us to schedule a game at a different time due to an error. He could have given us a forfeit which would have kept us out of the playoffs. We forgot to recheck the scheduling after they made some changes and we missed a game. We will be back next year.

We plan to be extremely competitive and if any big men are looking for a team. Let us know.
