Wrong.

Harper's best year as a Maverick saw him average 19.7 ppg, 7.1 apg, and 1.9 spg. Harper's 5 best seasons in Dallas, and he had 7 really good ones but Nash only had 5 in Dallas total, saw Harper have lows of 16 ppg, 7.1 apg, and 1.9 spg.

Nash's 5 best seasons in Dallas saw him average 17.9 ppg, 8.8 apg, 1.04 spg as his bests and 14.5 ppg, 7.3 apg, and .65 spg as lows.

So, statistically, Harper did what Nash was doing offensively and was very good defensively. As far as team accomplishments go, Harper led the Mavs to Game 7 of the WCFs against the Showtime Lakers in '88 and Nash's best was Game 6 of the WCFs against the Duncan/Robinson Spurs.

I have always maintained that Derek Harper is the 1st team PG on the Mavericks all time depth chart list in front of Jason Kidd and Steve Nash.
