The Pacers showed that the roster isn't the only thing they want to change this offseason when they fired Sam Perkins as their vice president of player relations after two years on Friday.
General manager David Morway didn't divulge why Perkins was fired, but he thanked him for his services.
Pacers Sports and Entertainment President Jim Morris fired Perkins during a lunch meeting at a downtown restaurant.
Perkins' firing wasn't surprising, according to people I talked to Friday. It had actually been coming for quite some time. Perkins and a couple of members of the organization didn't see eye-to-eye over his role as VP of player relation and they didn't feel he was a good communicator.
The team wanted to meet with Perkins the day after the season ended on April 15, but he was out of town until earlier this week.
Whatever the hell that means. I'm still under the assumption it was some trimming of the financial fat.
