So far, It doesn't have the character story depth of Lost and may not ever have it but it's a similar premise. A relatively small group of people isolated from the rest of humanity trying to survive vs a strange enemy (others/Monster or zombies). Hopefully this stick to more of a scientific-based idea like we saw the beginnings of in episode 5. Lost seemed to lose it's way when it went to more of a "fantasy" idea in season 6.
the walking dead has been published for several years now so there is plenty of source material to work with, i don't think they are gonna lose their way. zombies are pretty straight forward. they won't be dealing with metaphysical/pseudo science crap that Lost had to.
