So in basketball it basically means the same. If you don't put your hands up in the shooters face (hand down) then he'll knock the shot down easily (man down).

Thank you, because I have been trying to figure out what exactly "Hand down, man down" means for a while now. It's never made sense but it's a phrase Jackson used a ton.
