If stuff wasn't so pointlessly, astronomically expensive (sneakers, Lakers/Heat season tickets), players like Kobe and LeBron couldn't validate earning sums of money that average Americans only dream about.
The same could be said for any actor that makes $30+ million per movie.
The fact is there is a huge demand to watch basketball played at the highest level, and the supply of people that can do it is extremely small.
I mean look at how many people come to this website every day just to talk about basketball, let alone watch it. We're not posting about what happened at the Rec League at the local YMCA are we?
