all three films mentioned in this thread- reqiem/trainspotting/memento are all great and have alot of similarities.

they all represent the early work of three great directors and all three a typical young filmmakers films, crammed with style and emphasising a whole lot of technical ability.

i would say tho, that whilst trainspotting and especially memento represent the best work of boyle and nolan, which they have never surpassed. aronofsky however went on to even better things....
